Trying to ID dried mushroom
    #26878899 - 08/13/20 04:42 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Hello!

I met someone today while out rock hunting and he gave me these. Just wanting to ID of possible and know if they're edible. He claimed they "get him giggling", so any info would be great!
Thank you!

They look like dried woodlovers, possibly Psilocybe cyanescens or similar, are you north Pacific coast??

I would say Psilocybe cyanescens then based on the location.

Just looked them up and I'll be damned! I appreciate your help!

Any good resource to help me ID in the future? I've always been interested in foraging but was always too afraid to find something inedible.

They are to dry for me to identify accurately but they do resemble a dried Psilocybe, those gills are purplish  brown, correct?

The lack of bruising and the rusty brown gills don't exactly point in the direction of a psilocybe species. Ps. cyanescens tends to show more blue/black discoloration when dried.
