Ikea cookie jar grow

I found these at Ikea and thought they might make a nice coffee table grow or house warming gift. Not exactly sure what methods I will use to try to get a pretty terrarium potted plant effect.

They are 2 liters in capacity. I have some PE and GT spores and clones. I think the GT might make for better aesthetics.
I'm not going for some revolutionary tek. Just messing around because I love growing mushrooms. This could have been a journal, but I hoped that I might get some better suggestions over here.

I think they'll work, you might have to prop the lid open a bit for FAE. Shroom terrariums would make amazing presents! Along with a spray bottle and a printout about proper surface moisture.

Definitely want to prop that lid open. I just folded some strips of paper and hung them around the rim.

Nice Genghis, did you do grains in quart jars and mix them with sub or just case grains that were prepped in those containers?

Just threw a quart of grain spawn in each jar and mixed in a quart of coir/verm 1:1. Probably could have gotten away with a half quart of spawn per jar.

Just some update to this novelty project:
2020-10-02 Some pictures for the journal:
on the novelty front I spawned some GT to this 2 gallon sun tea jug on 10/2.
Also for novelty, I spawned these Ikea cookie jars at the same time.
2020-10-03 On fae in cookie jars.
It was a little early to worry about air exchange so I started anyway. The cookie jars have a rubber seal that is easily removable. So I figured I would leave one on, take one off and take another off and use some felt stickies to raise the lid for air exchange.
4 hours later and you can see that the moisture on the walls of the one with a raised lid has all evaporated. So that is probably too much fae.
2020-10-06
I made a few adjustments to try to balance evaporation and fae. On the one that was open raised with three felt pads, I removed the pads entirely. On the other one with no rubber seal, I added a single felt pad to raise one edge of the lid. I did the same on the one with the rubber seal left on.
some progress on the sun tea jug. I have not opened the lid on this one yet. I am hoping that the larger volume of air will sustain it a little further into consolidation.

Just a days progress pix. Still fiddling around with the cookie jar lids to find the right balance.

Decided to case on day 6. The jiffy I can find has coir and is 70% peat rather than the 50/50+ that everyone seems to like. So I just decided to add some vermiculite to the preparation. I just eyeballed it and added tap water in a 5 gallon bucket to bring it to field capacity. No pastuerizing or sterilizing. Just poured the verm and jiffy in the bucket and mixed by hand adding water until it felt right.
It is compacted down in the bucket photo.
Here are the novelty jars after casing.
I have them out on display in my living spaces, so even though they are Golden Teacher I decided to case these. GT wouldn't usually need a casing, but I didn't want to put these jars in a tub. So since I am open air fruiting them in a dry climate, I guessed that a nice casing would not hurt. Time will tell.

Just an update to this grow.
I was out of town for 4 days and came back to a mess. Some of the novelties were definitely GT and one is accidentally PE. The GTs blew up while I was gone.
Cookie jars
Side pins and the sub pushed up from the bottom, but plenty of top pins as well. They had already splooged spores all over the place.
They were a PITA to harvest and I destroyed the sub trying.
Tea Jug I liked how the tea jug looked, but there was bad new upon closer inspection.

I didn't even try to save the sub on this one with that nasty trich. I even left the mushrooms that were too close to it.

But I wanted to try making tea ice cubes from fresh. So I put the 387 grams into a pot and boiled them for 20 minutes, strained them and filled some ice cube trays.
