And then there was Dan Quayle, who doesn't seem to fit either of our explanations. People said George H Bush picked him to make sure he could never be impeached.

I disagree , I actually think it would be a good time to look at my old account and our old conversations from 2016 a repost all the stupid claims and predictions you made about him . There will never be an outdated time to remind you that you supported this shit whole heartedly . I would bring it up on your death bed if I could .

Biden said that in his speech today. But if you didn't see it, you didn't see it
I just think people should be picked based on merit, not because you enjoy playing the optics of pandering to minorities.
I actually think its kinda funny they keep playing up the colored female card because if they didn't tell you that she in fact was part black, you wouldn't know any better. Its kinda weird how being black is the most important part. Like Obama was half and half yet they only cared and talked about the 1 half
Yeah I didn't even hear Biden say that. sounds like something he would say. My reply btw was loaded with sarcasm asking if a candidate should be picked on the merit of what it seems like a person of such character would do and not what they would actually do.
same thing with Trump people vote for him on the merit that he is a brilliant business person who will help everyone in the US with their business and cares about employment etc. In reality he is a President who has almost started ww3 and bankrupted his own business into $500,000,000 in debt and cannot go a week in office without pissing off half the world with racist and Machiavellian like comments.
Truly does a candidate stand on their actions and behavior or on the merit of what they represent to the people for are voting for them? To me voting is like giving a bunch of kids in Kindergarten the ability to make really important decisions about which Power Ranger they want to run the country. The idea a child has about who someone is and what they will do is different then the reality of it.
America at its finest.

Please do, I look forward to it. What you're going to see is that I supported his campaign positions that he never implemented. I NEVER suggested he was going to do it, so please show us those claims and predictions I made about Trump.
In fact, 2 years ago I made a thread calling him an economic failure. So if you have those early posts that I made that suggested otherwise, let's see it.

I mean, she is a woman of color, so she is representative. Whether or not she enacts policies that empower marginalized groups is a different question, and when it comes to that question, I completely agree with you.
She's an American Democrat, which means she's a right-of-center politician who will protect LGBT rights, probably abortion rights, probably legal pot, and other left-ish social policies. It also means that she'll protect the military-industrial complex, as you said. Like I said in my original comment, I'm very frustrated with the American Democratic party right now because it's just not left-leaning enough for me to enthusiastically back it. I see it as a lesser of two evils right now, which is beyond frustrating and definitely doesn't feel like a democracy that works in the interest of the working class.

You're really splitting hairs with the lesser of two evils narrative. In fact, many progressives make a very good argument that the D's are much more evil than the R's in this environment. Let me explain the reasoning on that thesis.
The R's are very transparent with their rhetoric, it's purely supportive of big business, police, military, The Establishment and against anything that benefits the working class.
The D's sing a different song with their rhetoric, yet they still remain highly supportive of big business, police, military and The Establishment. In other words, they're not transparent and are the ultimate hypocrites.
Here's the ironic thing going forward. If Biden wins, the MSM will give him a free pass on everything that supports The Establishment. At least with Trump, there was a little bit of accountability. Obama couldn't do any wrong with the MSM and he passed a LOT of horrible legislation without even a bit of scrutiny.

I took a wait and see approach because I'm not able to predict the future. Trump was the first US President in the past 50 years to preach economic nationalism, so I had very serious doubts. Either way, Trump's economic nationalistic positions were spot on. I think you might be confusing my support for his positions and my support for Trump himself.
I gave my support to Bernie because he also preached much of the same economic nationalistic positions like Trump did. You see, I don't care who supports my positions, I just want them to implement it.

They're owned by the same people and sing a different song, but they're the same Party at the end of the day.

It’s really hard to take you seriously when you post like this.
Have you looked at the list of jerks Trump has picked for various positions?

Then maybe you should have been more clear that you thought trump himself wasn't picking based on merit. I thought you were talking about trump himself

Yes the public as a whole picks someone. Not one person handpicking another person. See the difference?
