Weaker?
Less contagious or less lethal?

Currently back at home in the downtown of a dense walkable small city and for reasons, I'm looking for a test - gonna have a telehealth appointment today and hope that my symptoms aren't so mild that I'll just get turned away, because I need to know more for other people's sake than mine right now. I'm also carless because my car is currently at my mechanics.
Made me realize how many folks who don't have access to a car who can't safely(unless you consider someone looking for a covid test riding in an uber safe, which I sure don't) access tests. Let alone everyone who does have one at their disposal who can't. Meanwhile they keep shutting down federal testing sites to make cuts? Oh and because we'll "have more cases" that way. It's just fucked, guys. We're fucked.
Started adding quercetin with bromelein to my regimin. I feel pretty okay but just in case I'm going on high alert, drinking lots of water, really light exercise on the stationary bike, trying to eat clean and nutritiously. Trying to be calm and find someone to stab me in the brain with a cotton swab close enough to get to on foot.

Makes sense to me that it'd be under evolutionary pressure to become less lethal/symptomatic but more contagious. Remember reading that some virologists were saying this could potentially happen. Will have to do some reading.

I am a little surprised as well. I never thought Morrow would say this he usually talks about how devastating covid is

It has evolved out of being more dangerous? That is possible? Can we lift all economic restrictions then?

Morrow sees it first hand, so of course he always talks about how devastating it is.
I am curious if it's his own anecdotal account or reflected in the numbers. I don't trust the death numbers in the states that are worst hit. Something is not adding up when compared to other states. Especially given that many states have wiped their ass with basic principals of data stewardship.

Less lethal. People dont seem to be getting as sick from it. This is anecdotal but confirmed by a lot of the medical personnel discussing it online. Many asympyomatic cases even in nursing homes. The hospital still has lots of sick patients but the mortality seems to be dropping even though treatment isnt changing
It makes sense for a virus that mutates that less deadly mutations will become increasingly prevalent over time. Very sick people dont move around much. We suspected this would happen but now it seems to be coming true
Ive always been straight up about my experiences. When i said things were really bad, it is because they were really bad. Now i am saying it seems to be getting better because it does. I have no political or personal agenda in here, just relating my experiences

Over 1400 people died in the us from of it in the last 24 hours
Don’t they have enough eyes on the virus to spot mutations?

Milder strains that don’t kill and don’t make people isolate themselves are highly evolutionarily favored, but these strains will coexist with the other strains and only become more dominant over time. There is no evolutionary pressure for the more lethal strains to disappear until most of the population is immune.
More likely the strain that hit Italy and Spain and then the Northeast was unusually lethal, compared to the virus that came from Asia and predominates on the west coast.

Italy released the results of a fairly flawed national antibody survey and found 2.5% of the country had been infected, the asymptomatic rate was 27% and the true CFR was 1.7%

I hate cruise ships and would never go on one, but I'm wondering if some of these cruise companies are going to come back strong and if they had enough rainy day money saved to make it through this virus or if they will go belly up. Thinking about investing some money now and maybe in a couple months if and when things gets worse. Cruise companies are down like 75% so should be a good time to invest if they are going to come back.
Is anyone else investing based on Covid gains and losses? What do you think the biggest winners and losers will be. Who will make the biggest come back?

Well the Italian one used a commercial antibody test but the spainish survey has Elisa based confirmation, which is extremely accurate.
I suspect using the death toll from a state hit hard in the first wave, and assuming the CFR is about 1.2, you can get a pretty good estimate of the infection rate in a state. New York State is 14%. New York City is 29%
Now the CFR is probably a lot lower because we have been treatment outcomes and the most vulnerable to the virus are being more vigilant than the general population.
