First grow attempt

Hey everyone, new here. Been reading around but to avoid hijacking another newbie thread I wanted to post a pic of current progress and ask if it all looks well? For this first grow attempt I just bought supplies from a website and have been following their guide.
I have GT growing in one tub and B+ growing in the other. I mainly wanted to post a pic and ask if the colors I’m seeing in one tub are normal? I did let the lid drop in and land on the casing the other day. Hoping maybe it’s just bruising but I have no idea. I’ve been misting 2-3 times a day and opening the lid same amount of times each day.

You shouldn`t rely on a misting schedule and that hygrometer. Just get used to the look of a proper surface: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23999053
Looks like bruising to me

Looks like you have a bigger car hole using the tape. Hard to tell from the pic but do you have droplets on the surface? May need to mist a bit more to keep it hydrated. Again hard to tell from the picture but it almost looked a little bit dry.

There are various times when I do notice there aren't droplets on surface. Should I be misting any time that occurs? Or try to stick to a 2-3 times a day schedule?
I noticed that 2 of the larger mushrooms have already split their veils. Should these 2 be picked early? I don't intend on taking spore prints. First time so I just want to successfully harvest some..

I've read to pick them all at once. So I'm holding off doing anything. Thanks for the help everyone.
Goatrider thanks for link i have that one saved now. I guess I'm paranoid about over watering but maybe I need to worry more about drying. If I leave lid on, the droplets are visible. But as soon as lid cracks i think they go away.

When I was on there picking some of the larger fruits this morning, I noticed the spot where I thought the casing might be bruised has gotten much much darker in color since yesterday.
Does it look anything to be worried about? This tub is doing the best out of both. If there's anything bad I'm hoping to harvest all the fruits before they potentially go bad.

Don't be worried. The fruits you already have there, won't go bad anymore.

Unless I'm totally mistaken, that darker patch looks like a deposit of spores from the big guy that opened its cap in the top right corner.

To me it's never easy to give advice on a pic. I guess that's no spore load. His neighbours should also be covered then. Also that mark showed up before in an earlier picture.

Sounds good, yes I can see how just looking a pic is very hard to judge. But I appreciate it believe me. I harvested 4 fruits totaling 48g wet. I have them in a Nesco dehydrator on lowest temp setting. My guess is time it takes to dry will vary based on quantity. Since I am only dehydrating 3 mushrooms when should I go check on them to see if done? I was thinking check every couple hours until they crunch apart.

Yep, that's my technique when I'm drying just a few. Some might finish faster than others, it's fine to pull them as they're ready. I never use a set drying time, I always just let it run, check occasionally, and stop when the last few (or one) is dry.
I'm a big fan of adding desiccant packets to my storage containers, that way I don't have to run a dehydrator for hours just to get one or two mushrooms to cracker-dry. I dry them most-of-the-way, then let the desiccant in a small baggie get them cracker-level.

I do mine at 70°C (sorry, i'm german ), no need for lowest setting. We even boil them for tea. It's not psilo that breaks down at that temps.

Good to know. I’ve had on lowest setting and even the first ones still have some squish to them so maybe I’ll turn the heat up a tad bit.

Awesome I saw a pack of desiccant packets for sale on scamazon so I grabbed it.
I used an exacto blade to cut the bodies as flush to the casing as possible. Is it a problem that there are leftover growths in the casing? I’ve read leaving mushrooms in there can cause them to rot/contaminate.

Usually the stumps get processed by the mycelium. It`s even new knotting possible upon them.
I`d twist and pull, if it`s not 100 soldiers standing there

Goatrider - cool..I was doing that for the big boys. But just as you say, there was a major cluster in there. I thought at first I’d just grab the 5 or so large fruits. But once I got in there I saw even the smaller fruits had split their veil. So I presumed they were ready to pick because of this.

Here is first harvest! There are still a bunch of smaller fruits growing, and I see some pins forming now. Misted it like crazy after picking and now see droplets on casing surface again. But still slightly worried the cake is dry. Can I dunk it with mushrooms actively growing? I have to read more on the process of dunking in between flushes.

I just go for bottom watering, i don't dunk anymore. Just after harvest i slowly begin to water. Depending on the amount of shrooms of course, the more it pushed out, the more water is spent. I usually start with shot glasses, and look out what it absorbs. I don't like my bricks drenched.
