How do I avoid this?

So this is the first time I've poured agar and from what I can see so far, the pour looks nice and clear. As you can see there is lots of condensation on the lid. Anything I could change next time?

Condensation dissappears over time. Unless its experiencing drastic temp swings.

Pouring agar when its at a lower temperature will cause less condensation.
Labs use water baths to get agar to a temperature of 47C or 117F before they pour.
Some use infrared temp guns.
I personally just wait till it feels "right" to the touch from trial and error.
If thats parafilm it should be stretched as its wrapped so it conforms to the dish.

What he said ^
I place my jar in a pot of water and stick a meat thermometer next to it. Get it down to 130 with cool water then let it cool to 117-120 on its own. I put a timer on repeat for 5 minutes so my high ass doesn’t forget.
-------------------- Clone -> agar -> UnBODified monotub (first attempt, left unattended a week before harvesting)
Thanks BOD 🙏

I have also found that stacking all of your plates on top of each other while hot/warm until they cool will help. Then there is no temperature difference between the air inside the dish and the lid, which is what causes the moisture to condense there. On the top plate I put my warm beaker with any leftover agar.

Thank you, I'll let it cool down a bit before I pour next time. I'm using press n' seal. I'm too cheap to buy parafilm.

I dont bother with a complicated cooldown procedure. I dont find it nesseccary. I pour about 40-50 plates at once and it takes me a month or two to go thru them. The plates sit on a shelf in my lab in ziplocks. Condensation always dissapears for me so, i dont worry about making the procedure overly complicated.

Drastic? Like how yesterday here it was 32 in the shade and today it's like 15? Crazy weather!
