Anyone notice faster colonization times with master grain from fridge?
    #26876712 - 08/12/20 11:06 AM (3 years, 6 months ago)

I think I just did. I had a master grain jar (oats) in the fridge for a month I think and I just used it to get some fresh oat jars going and the first half of them just exploded with dense mycelium! It must have been really hungry. I didn't count days but I bet it was a week to full colonization.

Now the later set of 4 jars that I used the same master grains and same cooked oats for barely started at all, until I added some more of the already fluffed up grains and I also added some warm tap water in there (this may be a mistake) because they looked too dry. Well, they are doing well now too.

anyways, to not keep this post too rambling my question is in the title. I am excited to see how these oats/mycelium perform in the coir! they seem so feisty ! :yesnod:
Oh yeah and I also have the first 4 of the jars in the fridge waiting for the rest to get ready so they will get an additional cold shock.

Yeah that's gonna happen when you have dozens of inoculation points from all those grains.

If you actually added warm tap water to grain spawn, I can assure you it is not doing well.

Have some medicinal mushrooms and want to get the most out of them?  Try this double extraction method.
