Shit, I have patches deep in the woods too and I did not need to buy a gagdjet like those to remembber where the patches were.

In fact,if anyone forgot where therir patch was, welkl that would be a sorry thing to happen to someone.

I just thought it would help me find any shroomy patches. I have never been out looking for any. But this summer I can tell I have no choice. What field guides should I start with?

Ya, they are not much use when you are in familiar woods but I found patches of Pine mushrooms up north last year that I'll never find again without a gps!

Eddie, get a copy of Psilocybe mushrooms of the World by Paul Staments.

Hehe I have that one. I got the 3 book deal from FP it comes with Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms, T.M.C. and Psilocybe mushrooms of the World. Do you think that Psilo Mushies of the World is enough? I was thinking maybe I needed something specificly to identify other mushrooms.

Also I knew that the GPS will eat batteries so I found some high quality NiMh recharchable batteries. They last over 1000 charges. They come with a charger that works in the home or car. It also features Four independent charging circuts to protect your batteries from overcharging. Overcharging is a very common way to destroy batteries.

I would hate to be hiking in the middle of no where and have it die. I think the GPS will also help me alot when driving out of town.
