Should I be concerned?!
    #26874906 - 08/11/20 11:33 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

I started this batch of GT the first week in July , initially it colonised ridiculously fast but now it’s been about a week and it’s barely changed, given the size of the substrate and the length of time I would’ve thought it would have fully colonised by now, could anybody please tell me if I should be concerned? , it also might be worth mentioning that the slight colouration at the bottom is from coffee in the substrate mix ,Thanks

It's dropping metabolites and stalling out because it's contaminated.  Bacteria I'd say.

Thank you for your response , ahhh shit that sucks , I can’t seem to smell anything other than the mushroom smell and coffee, is there anything I can do other than starting again?

Try again, but without coffee in the substrate. Liquid coffee is ok for grains, but I would omit it completely until you can get it down with bare minimum additives. Coffee is a contamination magnet.

There it is again- yet another premade substrate ends in failure.

Then in that case, my recommendation is look up some teks here. You will save more money. Also, if you fail, you will be able to immediately try again without hesitation or needing to buy more supplies. Highly recommended to try BRF as a start, to get the hang of it. If wanting to do Bulk, Pasty and Bod have start to finish teks that are incredibly easy and detailed. It may save you more time and money in both the short and long-run to do it yourself. Not to mention, you'd gain an incredibly valuable skillset and knowledge to go along with it. :hatsoff:
