These have looked like this for a month I'm thinking about going back to the OG print I started from for the fuck of it.

So weird man. Wrap one up see what happens with less air. I remember looking it up and the area it’s from is pretty high elevation.
This could be the first active that needs oxygen removed from the fc lol.

I'll wrap it up tonight, I'll dry one out a bit and keep the other wet and see if one works better. Saran wrap and toothpick holes coming.

Sweet!
My shoebox that I put in the fridge for a week didn’t seem to change at all so I’m checking that off the list.
Psilo do you have pictures of that canopy culture on plates? I’m curious what the myc looks like compared to both mine that are barely fruiting.

So for the artistic approach to abating curiosity, got some good T1's banged out. Due to plates being cheap, two of them were used for crazy shit. On one plate, applied to the same central spot were a smooshed up scrape from a really nice TOC plate that was pinning and a smooshed up scrape from a "Natalensis Super Strength" germ plate. The scalpel was used to smoosh both of them together in a mashed potato fashion. The other plate, a piece of the Natal was placed in the center with a triangle of three different cube spores encompassing it about an inch away. One variety as each line.
This is mostly for entertainment. Several of the best looking pieces were transferred on their own of course. I love to watch stuff meet under the microscope.
Unfortunately the old microscope camera kicked the bucket a couple days ago. The replacement is in limbo as my fingers are crossed.

At the very least I'm entertained by your smooshing and mashed potato-ing in the name of science.

I thought mine had normal gill attachment and so maybe there were very different genes you could end up with, until I took this picture. Idk if they darken and stand out more as they get older and I picked it too soon or what but you can still see them going onto the stipe. Before this I thought they were PE style caps.

I’m gonna clone this one in the back, totally different pheno than all the rest.

I'm always down to mashed potato. Especially for science.
Scope camera showed up. Heres the leading edge of T1 Natalensis:

Here are some shots of the TOC + NAT mashed potato plate. Recovering and running nicely:

So the term for these gills is either decurrent or subdecurrent, neither of which are in any cube description I’ve seen so far.

Heres my slow moving Natal/Melmac shoebox. 2 distinct variations of mycelium going on. Doesn't appear that they want to merge in any way after 11 days.

You put melmac and nat in there together? Sounds like mashed potato behavior. Curiosity peaked for sure.

So the smelly manure one is blowing up, this is at two days. Then there’s the old sweater box which had been upside down for weeks that I just flipped again looking gross. But there’s pins!

The part in the middle that’s not slimy is really weird. Idk what happened but the myc is about an inch deep and feels like poly fill mixed with rice or bbs. It’s just soft and fluffy with little hard spots mixed throughout.

If this was cubes I’d think it was garbage but I’m super happy about this clone tub so far. It’s a week old now, same spawn jar as the manure in my last post which is totally blowing up with rhizo. I added a super thin top layer to this shoebox.

Sides and bottom are totally colonized. Not sure if it’s relevant but I sprayed down the top pretty good a few days into colonization.
I still haven’t tried these but the feedback I’m getting is insane. I gave a friend an ounce of toc with a 5g of natalensis and I guess the toc isn’t great so they’ve been spiking the doses with .5 of natal and apparently it makes a big difference.
lol they’re telling me to just convert to only natal and PE cuz regular cubes just don’t cut it afterwards.

Watching this behave under the microscope is intriguing. I think it is a cube.

I made a 4g tea for a camping trip and split it between 8 people, so .5 each, and we all were more than buzzed. I was tripping forsure and a couple people were really out there. Pretty insane if you ask me. I made a 15.6g fresh tea that I'm dosing tonight and I'm Hella excited. Really fire stuff.

Here is the Natal meeting cube myc. Note the antena in the center where the cube meets the natal. The cube is coming from the top and the natal is stretching from the bottom.

Another spot. Cube up top and nat down below.
