How is no prep wbs any less of a hassle than soaking?
Soak overnight-24hrs. Drain. Jar up. PC. Done.
No shaking over multiple days. You guys must have massive forearms. Come over to my house and shake 6 boxes of jars multiple times for 3days.
Not tryna to be a dick I just dont see the point or how it saves time

Right. I guess if you don't like planning ahead for the soak, boiling, or drying of grains then "no prep" is the better option, but having to shake every jar 3 times or whatever post-pc seems like a bigger inconvenience to me. What if you have like three dozen jars? Fuck all that.

That's why I like the soak. No drying just draining. No boiling just soaking. It's like making a bowel of cereal. ...and eating it the next morning

How long do you normally drain wbs after a 24h soak?

I was careful about not contaminating it. Should I just try to go to the next phase where I try to grow the shrooms? That's a black plug that came with the spawn bag. No mold, just grain and a little wet grain.

Maybe your culture wasent as clean as u thought bro but regardless Something not right or it would have colonized every grain
and your bag looks kinda wet that’s a common bacteria sign . I would toss it and try agian u might get a few fruits but imo not worth the trouble
& mush now that I look at that pic, looks like they plugged on the millet lol . Too bad I got a lot of dust and clear corn flakes in mine 👎🏼

Hell yeah. If I can have the presence of mind to think ahead I'm definitely gonna try out the soak route

Any way to try and salvage any of it? Cut out the grain spot perhaps?

Has anyone ever seen the home mycologists on YouTube. He has his own channel. He thinks everyone over reacts with regards to contam or pasteurization. He pours his agar in his kitchen on the stove with 0 contam issues. Turns his stove onto 250. Cracks the door open and let’s the hot air rise while he pours his agar into 2oz soufflé cups. He boils his hpoo. It just seems he does everything against the curve and still has much success. Just curious if anyone is familiar with him.

People like that hide their failures. Youtube is a den of outdated, misinformation. I've seen people get away with boiling agar in a microwave and pouring it in the draft of a bunsen burner but tbh thats just ghetto, and they never show you what the plate looks like after 2 weeks. I threw out some plates yesterday that were 2 months old, I fucked up the spread or the spores were dead but either way no contam.

I don’t think anyone knowledgeable says that sterilization etc. is the only way your work can ever be contamination free. The point is that not everyone can get away with the same things, and some people can’t get away with anything. Sterile techniques and practices are so easily implemented that it’s silly not to use them, and it’s outright moronic to suggest to a large group of people that it’ll work for them too.

That’s bad news man..I’ll agree with Mush , it’s a mess !, Way way to wet ..
One Pic is of jars resting after PC and the other is still colonizing ..
Is that wbs or millet ?
Millet
I soak and drain .. load jars and PC .. I’ll let my jars set for awhile before adding agar.. no special reasons just fkn superstitious!!
