It costs approximately 2.5 billion dollars to bring a new therapeutic to market in the united states.  Yeah its all about that money.  I wont disagree some real shit practices occur, such a price gouging, evergreening etc.  but remember next time you take a new developed therapeutic what it took to get it in your hands.

The Italian researchers’ findings, published by the INT’s scientific magazine Tumori Journal, show 11.6% of 959 healthy volunteers enrolled in a lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 had developed coronavirus antibodies well before February.

pharma industry is desperately lacking regulation in certain ways, there is no doubt. but the idea that medicine is bad because of the free market is ridiculous. the USA has the best drugs available in the world for treating COVID, and people in other countries are pissed off that the US government prefers to keep them for US citizens

Dr schulgan was able to invent and safely ingest over 1,000 new psychedelic drugs.

Thats how quick development can happen without bureaucracy.

A scientist can make something new and since he made it and understands why he made it he knows its likely hood of what it will do and how safe it will be right off the bat, its this over bearing bureaucratic system of supposed safety testing, most of which is useless because it almost never plays out the way it did in animals as it did in humans.

Blaw blaw blaw you see where I am going.

No No No you mis understand, a free market would be great, sure there would be some serious law suits when they fuck up, but developing and producing a new drug is easy, its appeasing the government overlords that is hard.

Fuck we are still trying to appease them with fucking CBD lmao.

psilocybin is super duper dangerous and you should go to prison if you have it.

Ignore all the cancer patients and shit and all the new mental health benefits being found about it using it therapeutically.

Oh fuck a bunch of junkie ass druggies on this website have known about its benefits all this time.

And get this, even swine flu isn't a big deal, just as covid isn't really either, I had covid, nothing serious has happened to me, nothing, I climb fucking mountains in my spare time for fun, no tangible real impact on my life at all and you are scared of it? That is stupid

With lockdowns and businesses closed causing deaths of despair, yes, our cure is worse than a virus could ever be.

Mental health is a thing.

People are leaving NYC.

https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-covid-empty-manhattan-apartments-20200814-puzcq6e6ojfgfdyh6vnn2knp3a-story.html

The month of July brought a record high number of vacant rental apartments in Manhattan, with more than 13,000 residences available to rent, according to real estate experts Daniel Elliman and Miller Samuel. The 4.33% vacancy rate was more than double the figure from one year ago, when the number of vacancies was just below 6,000.

Now why would they flee, NYC has covid 19 under control based on their data, if anything it is the place to be.

Wait there is more to life than a stupid common cold style virus?

A majority of NYC businesses are closed so all those rich people who drive 90 minutes into work every day to avoid taxes don't have any fancy restaurants to eat at and work from home like their employers tell them to.

No one cares about aids? Where have you been for the last 40 years?

HIV is not very contagious. You can’t spread through routine contact, so no need for social distancing or lockdowns. HIV is also treatable and now preventable with medication.

The flu and hepatitis viruses have killed far more people than HIV each. The Spanish flu killed more people than aids has.

For perspective, in the US, more people have died of covid in the past six months than have died of aids in the past decade.

Considering how there is a clear increase in cases right there in Texas that appears to be happening later. So, are you going to say that mask did so well in Texas that people got too comfortable and were willing to stop wearing them, which is what caused this rise in Texas cases? Or is it going to be that businesses began to reopen which is causing a rise in cases, which doesn't make sense if most people are wearing mask?

Unless, it's those few people who don't wear mask who are out and about mingling with others as a super spreader having been asymptomatic for several weeks? Is it those few people who don't wear mask causing spikes?

I mean, homeless people aren't required to wear mask.

What gives?

While Portland has herd immunity with Oregon seeing less than 1000 500 deaths in total.

80 days of protest and riots.

https://www.businesstoday.in/current/world/coronavirus-vaccine-russias-top-doctor-quits-over-untested-covid19-vaccine-sputnik-v/story/412974.html

"Coronavirus vaccine: Russia's top medic quits over 'untested COVID-19 vaccine'; calls out Putin's rush through
Professor Alexander Chuchalin resigned from the health ministry's ethics council after trying to block the registration of what Russia claims to be 'world's first coronavirus vaccine' on 'safety grounds'

Russia's top respiratory doctor has quit the Russian health ministry over 'gross violations' of medical ethics regarding 'Sputnik-V'.

Professor Alexander Chuchalin resigned from the health ministry's ethics council after trying to block the registration of what Russia claims to be 'world's first coronavirus vaccine' on 'safety grounds', the Daily Mail reported.

He explicitly named and accused two leading medics, involved in the vaccine's development, of defying medical ethics in rushing the inoculation into production. The two doctors he named are Professor Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Research Centre and Professor Sergey Borisevich, Russia's leading expert in virology. The two researchers were the leading scientists behind the new 'world-beating vaccine'.

Questioning the two medics, Chuchalin asked them about the safety norms violated by them. He queried, "Have you passed all the necessary paths approved by Russian Federation legislation and the international scientific community? Not!"

He further reinstated that "this job has not been done. Thus, one of the ethical principles of medicine has been grossly violated- to do no harm."

Chuchalin also talked about the concerns expressed world over regarding the safety of the Russian vaccine. He rued that he was "deeply depressed by the position of some of our scientists who make irresponsible statements about ready-made vaccines."

Although no specific reasons for his resignation were given, Prof. Chuchalin, in an interview with the journal Nauka I Zhizn (Science and Life), shortly before he quit, cautioned that "in the case of a drug or vaccine, we, as ethical reviewers, would like to understand, first of all, how safe it is for humans." He further stated that "safety always comes first. How to evaluate it?" adding that the vaccines "being created today have never been used on humans, and we cannot predict how a person will tolerate it".

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on August 11 that it has successfully registered the world's first COVID-19 vaccine developed indigenously in the country. He added that the inoculation known as 'Sputnik-V' has proven to be efficient during tests, with a dose already being administered to one of his daughters."
