Found on a dead tree log under oak trees. The cap has a orange and rusty surface that is like an orange powder to the touch. Found on the Gulf coast, USA Bruising is noticeably dark The gills are orange flattened and wavy growing from the wood on the logGymnopilus luteofolius?

The color of the spores seem right as well as the stippling on the cap.... i think they COULD be gymnopilus but I don't think its luteofolius

When I checked these pictures I noticed what appeared to be an inky blue color on the cap and gills. Do you see this and is it bruising? I thought so saw this when I was there m, but the sun was in my eyes. Would another picture be appropriate?

I dont see bruising, I see darkening where the mushroom started to rot before it dried out.

Compare what you have to amanita flavorubens. Its definately in the rubescens group if it stained red.

1st one's too old to tell IMO, even if I could say it was def. a gymnopilus (which i might based on the massive orange-brown spore deposits) there would be nothing separating G. liquiritae from G. sapineus from G. luteoviridis. Plus, they're moldy, which means they belong in the trash.
But definitely return to that log after the next good rainfall so we can see some fresh ones

you need to carefully dig up the entire stipe base and post pictures, when Identifying Amanita it's very important to include the stem base as it is an important part of the identification process.

There are a couple different reddish bruising Amanita. Amanita rubescens is one and another is Amanita brunnescens
