Trying to source some sand for my casing and it all comes in really big bags and I ain’t gonna need that much. I’ve seen this ‘bird sand’ for pet birds wonder if that would do because it comes 2.5kg bags. Anyone heard of that?

Any thoughts on using organic cactus mix? I already have it for my plants. It's peat, sand and lime.

Spawned an outdoor bed with a bunch of bacterial tamp oats.

All you do is hydrate the sub and spawn it when its outdoors right? I know thats all you do but it feels deceptively simple :lol:

If you get jiffy 5050 mix it comes already ph balanced, I just mix some verm in and use it right from the bag.

This will be my first run. There’s next to nothing about them all I know is captain future was supposed to have done a grow of them once. I asked him to clarify whether the results of these turned out to be chicon nindo or something new. I’m really not sure of much other than they where a new strain, not much is known other then they are mexicana and that the spores were 8 years old when I got them. I made two plates. One with high nute value and one control regular Mea. I thought I was gonna have to give these guys a fight maybe try some hydration or other methods. The first plate to see germination is now the MEA after only 2 days.

ive never used cactus soil but i hear it works fine. I just add sand and lime to jiffy (i want basic not balanced pc)

I was going to use cacti soil but it was kinda pricey so I just added cacti sand to freshly bucketted coco.

I am pasteurizing a few quarts of cactus soil with added sand as we speak. Going the Mycolorado mathod with lots of sand.
It's pretty much the same composition as yours-- peat base, a bit of soil, and sand, with a lime buffer for higher PH.
I added a tablespoon of garden lime per quart when I was mixing it up-- and probably 30-40% coarse sand.
It will be used with my Tamps as substrate.

I made a separate quart with a full 50% coarse sand that will be used as the casing.
