I have two cakes in the sgfc, the largest pin has a crack in the middle of its cap am I doing something wrong or is this a typical thing larger pins do?

Those are fine I don’t see a crack. Are you talking about the white veil remnants on top?

Mine did the same thing on my first flush. It's likely just genetics.
I also made the mistake of way over misting. Let the cakes get to the point when they're no longer glistening with moisture, and the vermiculite looks a tiny bit dry before misting again if you're not already doing that.

Yeah I think you are right I’m trying to figure out how much is enough when I am misting. I have a few pins that are pretty fat at the bottom could that be from over misting

Mist until glistening with moisture. Then, wait till they aren't totally dry but don't look quite "damp" either. Then mist again.
This will tell you the perfect frequency to mist at (if you have all day to sit in front of your cakes lol - otherwise just mist when you leave for work in the morning & when you get home, maybe once more before bed if they look dry)
They are growing at the bottom of the cake since this is where there is more moisture & better surface conditions. Nothing wrong with it of course
Don't worry about cracked caps if this is one of your first grows - they are still good to eat and in future grows if you isolate genetics and learn how to get the conditions right you won't see this as much. Experience goes a long way

growing too fast can also cause that to happen. and as mentioned being too wet and genetics play a role too. i had that happen a lot back when i started out and it was def do to being to wet. its just not the only thing is all. if u look it will really look like an x right in the center of the cap and u can usually see right down to where the stipe becomes hollow

The first mushroom I grew with a hole in the middle (which continued to crack open more as it grew out):

Well I’m gonna stop misting as much I guess I was afraid they would be too dry. If you look at the middle picture closely I got a few more pins growing at the top of the cake hopefully those make it

I've seen them crack all yhe way open and divide into 4ths.
Aside from over saturation what temperature are they growing in? was there a recent increase in temp maybe from relocation of the tub or moving a light source closer?

The cake that has the cracked pin on it was birthed before the other one and I had it in a 1.5 liter bottle fc, so maybe that has something to do with it. The back side of that cake has a lot of fluffy white mycelium. I moved it to the sgfc when i birthed the other one

So maybe it was Just the original fc that messed my cake up not the misting because the other one seems to be doing pretty good
