I did a thing * 4
    #26871298 - 08/09/20 10:02 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Occasionally, we do a thing. Sometimes they are new things. This is one of those times.

We had way too many eggs, and I tend to be the kind of person with a lot of ideas. I'd never had a pickled eggs before, and I have way too much vinegar.

We made them a few days ago with a 1:1:1 brine using white vinegar and acv. They both have some onion and fresh garlic, the one on the left has a bunch of dill and for the one on the right I found a recipe using tumeric and chili powder. I tried one of both this morning and the little fuckers are delicious! But they clearly need more time. And to think, all this time I thought pickled eggs were just bar food to keep you from puking and make you fart.

I love when I do a thing and it doesn't suck. Hella success :manofapproval:

Let this be a place where we discuss when we did a thing. Somewhere where we dare to fail, to adventure the great unknown. A place for eggs. And pickles. Hell, show chicken wings some love for once...

Dude, you gotta try these pickled eggs...

It's a Jamie Oliver recipe, and the best pickled eggs I've ever had.  I've only done pickled eggs a handful of times, but this is the only way I'll do it anymore...

Look at these things...

Those look fire. I'll be trying those on the next batch. The great thing about it is it's very cheap. For experimenting. I'm always trying to be creative and think of neat ways to make money and if I got a good recipe I could totally sell a bunch of them at a farmer's market. There's a decent sized one near me, just get all baked and sit at a stall all day selling edibles and pickled eggs and coconut shell hides for ur critters and rake in the cash like a mad man. -The fuckin dream

I forgot, the second one has a small amount of dill and a sprig of roemary. They taste like devilled eggs kinda

I tried a pickled egg once at a bar and wasn't super impressed. It wasn't seasoned the way I was expecting (not sure exactly what I was expecting). The purple ones look cool.

I like the sweet pickle mix with sliced cucumber pickles and onions and cauliflower. Would be interested to try making that sometime.

Pickled herring sounds pretty weird but it's awesome.
