Should I inoculate my jars?

First time growing and I thought my sfd would stick to the jar lid so I didn't have silicone glue last night. I ended up just pcing them with nothing covering the 1/4" hole but foil atm. Just restart or should I inoculate them?

i wouldnt inoculate them why would u even pressure cook them without a filter of some sort?? your jars are fucked if thats the case. im not sure what kind of jars you are even talking about either brf or grain??? not that it matters if u just have an open 1/4 inch hole on the lid but you should always include information like that. with brf alot of ppl will use a smaller hole with a dry verm top layer as a filter covered with micropore tape and foil for pc then remove the foil and inject thru the micropore taped holes. but with grain jars you absolutely need an actual filter of some sort.
also you really should use agar first to make sure u have a good clean culture before hand then use that as inoculant. not that spores to grain dont work at times cuz they can and i have done it in the past but its just much more risky is all. spores are almost always dirty to some extent and even syringes from top notch vendors often contain some form of contamination. but if you absolutely have to shoot spores from a syringe as inoculant then brf is your best choice of growing medium.
but id make correct lids and start over if i were u. why do all that work only to throw it all in the trash in a week 👍

Hey, thanks for the reply. Was pretty sure they were fucked but it was getting late and I wanted to test out my pc just to know how it works. I was making the jars while watching the pk tek video and the guy put micropore tape over the holes. All I had was sfd's so I decided to make some 1/4" holes instead, only to find out I need silicone glue for the discs.
I know I should start with agar but as a beginner I feel there's enough info/ tek/ debate to sift through. I'm just getting some cakes going to see what I can learn while I look into agar/monotub tek.

If you haven’t cut smaller circles out of all Your SFD then you can just put whole ones underneath the lid. That’s how they’re meant to be used but You can also get 7 quarter sized circles out of one disk so people do that to save money.
But either way you’d still have to re-sterilize those jars. If you do cut out quarter sized circles and silicone them on, make sure you scuff up the surface of the lid where the silicone will go. That will give a much better grip and they’ll be less likely to fly off during a shake

You can also stuff the hole with polyfill. It's my filter of choice tbh and personally prefer them over SFD's, shit can last lots of cycles too if you stuff it nice and tight. Not a fan of using silicone to fix a filter -- silicone will fail eventually.
Bodhisatta has a thread on polyfil filters IIRC, in case you're interested.

ya poly works also thats why i said a filter of some sort. cuz there i several options out there but you def need one. ive used poly in the past and it worked just fine.😃 but just be patient and not overly anxious when it comes to this hobby. i know its hard at the start cuz u just wnna get going and get growing but the sooner you learn to wait things out and not try to rush things the better off you will be. i know it sux in the begining cuz youl constantly be wanting or feeling like u need to be doing something. but just relax and take your time cross your t's and dot your i's be patient and you will succeed👍👍👍
