I'm confused, if this is your 6th hospital visit then how are you just now finding out about the visitor policies? Surely they didn't just now institute them there. For many workers, this is their sixth shift this week- every single one of which involves having the same conversation with people you just had over and over and over.
We did, in fact, sign up to help people. The staff there is helping your wife, who is sick. That's their job. If we all went and "found a new job", nobody would be there to help her. What we didn't sign up for is having to explain frustrating and annoying policies to exasperated family members 25 times a day with a smile on our faces. We're not customer service representatives. Just like it's new for you, it's new for us. Like I said, we all want to put this nightmare behind us.
I can almost guarantee you this person didn't "want to be a cunt", but without a video recording I guess there's no way to be certain.

Ok this is the last reply I’m going to make explaining something that I’ve already explained. This is our 6th hospital visit. This is a different hospital than everytime before (because they all treated us like shit). Apparently at this hospital they just implemented it here. Hence, my confusion. Hence, my very short, non threatening question that I’m sure they haven’t gotten 25 times a day. If once. She was being a cunt.

it sucks not to be able to go back and be with your loved one, but everyone's in the same boat. don't take it personally. my friend has been hospitalized for about 10 days in the same hospital system that employs me and even I'm not allowed to go visit him
As to "being spoken to like a child"... well, if you genuinely think masks don't help anyone, and you said something of that nature... you're the one who made yourself look like a child in the eyes of everyone there it's hard to be patient with people who come in thinking they understand infection control better than those whose professional lives are currently, well, consumed by infection control. especially when it's CONSTANT
ps, your eyes don't breathe, cough, or sneeze. the mask is to protect the patients and workers there from any diseases you might have. we wear protective eyegear/faceshields. nobody is stopping from you from doing the same.
"Everyone is in the same boat" as he willfully neglects the poor and takes on the people that his book told him to take on. Dont accept his facade. Poor people die as a direct result of his direct actions. Hes been co dealing this since the beginning

Thank you for the resources. I am confident that media has overblown the crisis; I will review the resources about manipulation. I suppose "overblowing" an idea is manipulating public perception so I am on board.
Still, there is no doubt that the virus impacts some people, and some people, very significantly. A person in my family just lost smell/taste, had persistent headache, and was super drained for days. Other people are more impacted. I'm not sure who to believe anymore, honestly, and I think we can all share in that. Still, as to the masks, COVID or no, let's not pretend they don't mitigate a variety of aerosols when worn correctly. I am interested to see how this 'shamdemic' impacts flu numbers this seasons. What if good hygiene practices in public places reduced all sorts of illness. ???
Thanks again - solid post.

I know you are a good guy/girl, or are aspiring to be, like all of us. I only disputed your logic around wearing masks - sorry this thread derailed in to personal stuff.
Cheers!

yeah, i bet she's probably at home making threads at some hospital receptionist forum board, bragging about how many people's days she ruined.
don't give her that satisfaction. let it go.
also, if everyone is cunt to you where ever you go. that says more about you than it does them.

No need to apologize man. I made it knowing it was a sensitive topic. I’m not trying to argue with anyone, but I’m all for a friendly conversation on the topic. It’s something that definitely needs to be discussed.

Nurses don't fuck around in the best of times, they typically are treated awfully by patients, who think that despite 20 years of experience they are not qualified at what they do. If a nurse dresses you down, it's usually cause you something moronic. They are on the front-line everyday, dealing with this, cut them some slack if they are a bit snippy, not to mention they are working god awful long hours.
Imagine you work a job were you see people die everyday cause they can't control themselves (not just covid, heart disease, obesity, diabetes etc) and now you work in an environment were there is real possibility of getting you loved ones sick if you slip up on protocol.
TL:DR Have some empathy OP, walk a mile in their shoes and see how you would feel.
