Fxcking Gourmet Shxt: Coffee Connaisseurs, what kinda coffee are you drinking now? 1

I was just drinking some Kenya AA TOP grade coffee, serious coffee roasted yesterday, and enjoying the rich chocolaty-nutty flavor, the essential oils, the tasty acidity, enjoying my coffee very much when I wondered: What do the coffee connaisseurs of The Pub have in their tin?
A single origin, a blend, an iconic brand..
Do you grind your own, maybe even roast your own?
What apparatus do you use to prepare it?
Still enjoying that outspoken flavor and I drank it 15 min ago.
How do you drink yours?

I think the smell of coffee is seriously in my top 5 fav smells of all time. However drinking it is my top 5 most hated flavors of all time. Therefore, my post is irrelevant

I have a little espresso machine, and I drink a couple of triple shots of Lavazza Gran Aroma a day.

Keeps me out of trouble, I think....

Daaaaang, where do you find the dank beans with the letter rating? I've only heard about that recently. Saudi Arabia is apparently the big market for those because it's the local version of "let's meet up for a drink".
Currently drinking the Vietnamese-American favorite, Café Du Monde with sweetened condensed milk. I switch between that and Lavazza Medio.

Kenya AA Coffee Beans Facebook Tweet Pin Shares155
Grown at elevations higher than 6,600 feet above sea level, Kenya AA is considered to be one of the world's best coffee beans. The high growing altitudes means that the beans grow slower than at low altitudes, providing more nutrients and allowing them more time to develop their flavors and mature. Kenya Coffees

The high plateaus of Kenya produce coffee beans with a full body and rich, strong, flavor with a very pleasant acidity. The fragrant aroma also has floral tones, with a winey finish/aftertaste that also has citrus and berry overtones. Kenya AA Coffee Beans - Medium RoastKenya AA Coffee Beans - Medium Roast Grading
The biggest screen size in the Kenya coffee grading system is E (Elephant), followed by PB (Peaberry) and AA, which means the green coffee bean is just a little more than one-fourth inch (1/4") in diameter. While AA is the most commonly available on the market, others can sometimes be found but don't drastically affect the flavor.
The specifications for Kenya AA: Screen 21; retained on 18; diameter 7.2 mm.
The elevation of Kenya's coffee farms qualify these as Strictly High Grown (SHG) / Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) - the best of the best. Coffee review
Kenya AA is often reviewed as one of the world's brightest coffee beans, though of course this is a matter of debate among coffee cuppers as well as every day specialty coffee lovers.
What is certain, however, is that Kenya AA is one of the finest coffee beans known and also one of the coffees most favored by coffee connoisseurs. The largest and best coffee beans from Kenya are grades Kenya AA and peaberry. Kenya AB is frequently rated high as well and makes an acceptable substitute when AA is not available. Green Coffee Kenya AA Green Coffee
The fact that Kenya AA has consistently been one of the world's best rated coffees means there's a demand for it, and is a great way to introduce people to specialty coffee roasting. Whether buying for a commercial roasting operation or just your own home use, this is definitely one of the must-haves.
The high quality (and price) of the Kenya AA means that it's not frequently used in blends, but rather simply sold as a single origin coffee. Pricing
The typical fluctuations in the market year-to-year means that prices go up and down. This is sometimes tied to market conditions (supply and demand) and other times simply raw goods costs - fertilizer, processing cost, etc. Retail prices remain fairly steady, typically changing once per year or several years depending on how volatile the market is.
Wholesale green coffee from a broker/importer on the other hand, is typically priced with a week or two maximum validity to accommodate for smaller changes that are amplified in large volumes.
Buying unroasted green coffee beans to roast at home can be done starting with as little as a single pound from online distributors and wholesalers. The best quality check is to simply order a small quantity to try, review it for yourself, and go back for bulk purchases once everything checks out. Roasting
The best Kenya AA coffee is often given a Medium Roast to allow the coffee's natural brightness to shine. Roasting it darker results in a loss of the nuances that make this bean so great, though can be done for those who prefer their coffees with more "coffee" flavour.
As with any single origin Arabica coffee, fresh roasted in whatever roast you like best will deliver better results than old, stale coffee that may have been sitting in distribution warehouses and on shelves for months. When looking at buying brands from large retailers such as Amazon and Starbucks, it's important to make sure the coffee is labeled as fresh roasted with a clear explanation about what that means - some companies label "fresh roasted when packaged", when it could have been packaged months ago.
Organic Kenyan coffee isn't seen very often, but not for any negative reasons. The coffee industry in Kenya is one of the better regulated, with high quality standards that do well without Fair Trade or Organic certifications. Buying coffee
The best way to buy in bulk is to buy fresh roasted, frequently. Buying hundreds of pounds just to have it sit around will cause the coffee to go stale, and orders can often by split into smaller, weekly shipments to keep the quality high. As shipping cost as a percentage of the total order gets smaller as the order size goes up, with boxes of 50-lb being shippable by common courier.
When looking for quantities in the multiple bag (132/150-lb) region, careful planning needs to be done to provide enough lead time for the supplier. A single bag needs to be shipped on a pallet/skid, but is highly inefficient as the cost for this can significantly add to the price. Typically, multiple bags should be ordered together to economize the shipping cost.

I buy locally roasted coffee, whole beans, and I grind it myself. I like making cold brew where I let the water and grounds sit overnight. This makes a batch that usually lasts me 2 days, and I find you get more of the pure coffee flavor and it's not too burned.
I usually mix half regular coffee and half hazelnut flavor.

I am not a connoisseur, but...
I have a keurig. It's too convenient to resist. My problem with coffee makers is that I never want more than one cup at a time, and when I want a cup I want it now. Keurig provides me that. I guess I can get one of those reusable keurig things that I can fill with my own coffee, I should probably try that some time. Keurig also makes a better cup of coffee than I've ever been able to on my own, probably because it's pretty much espresso.

Jamaican blue mountain, buy a good quality burr grinder to get the perfect grind, either than perfect the pour technique or buy a thechnivorm mochamaster, may not make the best on the market but its damn close. Experiment with grind size till you get the perfect cup. Careful on the water you use too, if you use filtered DI water I put washed eggshells in my coffee mix, really reduces the harshness. It's a little trick I was taught by a barista at a small hand pour shop.
Also if you get real Jamaican Blue mountain, prepare to pay, and watch out for fakes, it's renowned enough that people try to fake it, buy straight from a certified seller.

Im just drinking folgers right now, I usually buy the cheapest brand at the store which usually runs me 8-9 bux depending on if something is on sale, but folgers is on Amazon Canada right now for $6.98 a 2lb tin, so I bought 5 of those to get the free shipping, got a slightly better coffee then the no name $8 tin at the store and I saved $1 a tin
there was a fruit market/deli in my town, it went out of business like 5 years ago, they sold kicking horse coffee for $1.75 a cup, and that was my favourite place to get a cup

I only got kicking horse once since then, its pretty expensive coffee

I used to go with reusable K-Cups bc you can put your own blend in them, saves money, & can be made to one’s preference. Nowadays I prefer making a fresh pot of coffee in the morning - but if I’m just making one cup, I’ll use the Bialetti Moka Express.

This stuff these days:

I'm not too picky as long as it's whole beans, don't seek out dark roasts though.
My coffee maker is similar to these but not the same brand. I think it would be about the "12 cup" size. I drink half a pot to a pot of it a day.

It is funny how much of end product is the cooker and how little is the actual coffee.

Nice threat Asante! And good replies.
I am currently drinking this:

$10 for 2-3 months worth of coffee and its pretty good. I drink a shitload of coffee too like 6 cups a day . My brother in law who is an amazing guy always invites me over for espresso and he treats it like science. I couldnt tell you the beans he buys but they are legit and roasted on site of the place he goes to. His espressos and americanas are the best coffee i have ever had.
