Alternative coco peat

So those 650g compressed coco peat bricks seem to be rather popular and are out of stock in a lot of webshops. And if they're for sale they are hideously expensive. Like €7-€10 ea while I got them earlier from a thrift store for less than €1 ea...
so I was looking at this from a Belgian manufacturer. Warning: Dutch language ahead, please use the right click page translate option in Google Chrome or equivalent.

TL;DR; It's a solid chunk of coco peat which gives 70L of coco soil when you add water and it can be broken up into invidual chunks for partial processing.
But it looks a bit chunky, what do you all think? I have one of those Blendtec blenders which can shred it more if necessary.

That should be good. I also buy big 5kg blocks of coir from an online hydro store, it's a good deal for cheap.
I have to advise you against trying to shred the coir in the blender thing, you're going to fuck it up for good. I use the flat part of a hammer and hit the block to get smaller chunks, then I weigh out what I need.

Awesome, thanks. I will order some of this. In what way would it be fucked up for good if I would finely shred it? Would it destroy the loose structure and influence aeration of the substrate? I'm still going to mix it with verm to create bulk substrate like in the tek below. I used this tek earlier and got good results with it.

No, I mean.. the thing that's going to get fucked up is the blender, not the coir lol

Oh that won't happen I think, it's a Blendtec, the thing blends iphones and ipads. No I'm not kidding, look up the 'will it blend' videos on youtube for some serious entertainment
