Graem is from the movie “Barefoot Gen”  :

A 1983 Japanese anime war drama film loosely based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Keiji Nakazawa. Directed by Mori Masaki and starring Issei Miyazaki, Masaki Kōda and Tatsuya Jo, it depicts World War II in Japan from a child's point of view revolving around the events surrounding the bombing of Hiroshima and the main character's first hand experience of the bomb.

I would want to visit either city but Im dure the radiation level will always be a danger. 700 million year half life of U-235. Yikes.

Its still amazing to me how destructive they are.

I was just tossing this subject around earlier today; I'd be willing to bet there's a strong correlation with these two events & the current state of their public approach & awareness when it comes to changes such as COVID.

If I read correctly, they haven't had to have a single lock-down yet, have been conducting minimal testing on their citizens, yet have had the lowest numbers of negative health cases relating to this current (COVID) transformation and everything brought about with it.

What option was there other than the Bomb?

Invading Japan, which would’ve ended up in millions of more dead. Shitty situation for the residents of those cities, but Japan brought it on themselves by getting cocky & bombing Pearl Harbor, as well as all the suicide attacks throughout the course of the war. They made it obvious that a land invasion would be a bloodbath. The atomic bombs, destructive as they were, were the lesser evil in this situation.

The Grable test was 15 kilotons, about the size of Hiroshima.

Not occupying Hawaii and not trying impose strict restrictions on commercial and naval practices thousands of miles away away from DC in the Pacific.

The American naval presence in the Pacific was intrusive, imperialistic, and immoral. Instead of dropping atomic weapons on civilian populations and fire bombing Tokyo America should have apologized and gone home. America was the bad guy and the aggressor and the attack on Pearl Harbor was entirely justified.

How was the attack on pearl harbor justified?  The Japanese weren’t freeing pearl harbor.  The last thing Hawaii would of wanted was an occupation by the Japanese.

Having a navy base in the middle of the Pacific was and is a provocative aggressive action.

I’m really not seeing what you’re arguing.

Japan attacked America because it wanted to go on a world conquest.  They didn’t do it for defense reasons, they wanted us out of the way before they went on their world tour.

Didn’t work.
