I inoculated a bag of Millet seed with with roughly 4cc's of MS about 7 days ago and am stressing if I used enough solution, I have seen zero growth, although i haven't checked in 3 days. (Yes I know, bad habit) It has been incubating at 74-78 degrees this whole time.

MS can take a while to germinate. Leave em alone. Also it's generally a bad idea to go MS to grain because most, if not all, spore syringes are inherently dirty. Much better to get some agar going and ensure you have some clean spawn.

pasty plates are super easy, noob friendly, and you can find materials locally.
But all the cool kids use petri dishes because they offer much better visibility, and are designed for this purpose. It's not much more difficult, and totally worth the extra effort. Bod has a good tek here .

I use no-pour plates myself but petri dishes are way cooler.

I will give the pasty plates a try. Very new to all this, been kind of combining elements of different Teks I've been reading. Any experience with pre mixed nutrient agar as mention in GordoTEK

For the OP, be patient. No sign of contamination so far is a good thing! Germination is like watching water boil or paint dry. It just seems like its NOT, if you are looking all the time hahah. Seems to go faster when you forget for a couple days you have some stuff in the closet.
Personally, I've gotten lucky on all my Popcorn jars nocced up with MS. Counting my blessings. I'm looking into doing pasty plates very soon. All the ingredients seem to be easy to find and the tek looks great for an agar newbie. Although I'm interested to see if MY prints will do okay on my popcorn jars. Only ones I've done that I can gauge have been from a purchased syringe. I did two popcorn jars with my prints to MS syringe, and so far they are great. I wonder if other grains have a higher risk of contam with MS than popcorn? I see a bunch of guys going straight to popcorn with not much issue. I'm not at all arguing against the fact that agar is superior, I'm just wondering if I'm lucky, or if my overkill of a sterile technique is just really awesome and the purchased syringes had good genetics and were more clean spores than dirty spores.

Thank you. I used a pre sterilized 3lb bag of millet i ordered online. The incubator just smells like bird seed if anything. I was trying to save some time, and also its next to impossible to find a pressure cooker online right now. Reasonably priced.

Check out https://www.eastcoasthardware.com/
That's where I got my presto 23. I think 115 bucks? Not too shabby. But because of Covid right now, I had a hell of a time getting one for ANY price. Mom's at home seem to be doing more canning right now, or maybe its all of YOU GUYS buying them all for mush! Hahaha. Hope that works out for you. Definitely one of the most important pieces of gear for this.

Wow that's nuts. I got my new one only a couple months ago. I tried to get a few parts from preso direct, and they are out of most everything. I think that presto has probably closed down temporarily during this and now all of everyone's stock shelves have sold out. I mean that sucks to get a small one, but you could do more runs. I know that's not ideal at all, but its an option. Typically, pressure cookers hold their value for resale pretty good if you wanted to sell it later. Sorry to hear that brother. Everyone is feeling this stress in more than one avenue lately

Thank you for your kind words! I think I'll just bite the bullet and buy the 12 liter. The knowledge and experience is worth it.

Just be patient, I know a guy who had to wait over a month to see any growth, but to be fair he got his spores from some random ass place on the web and all 4 of his syringes ended up being contaminated as heck. On a bright note he mixed a contaminated jar with horse poo and put it in the garden and has been getting little mushrooms from it all summer.

Dude it took me 3 months of searching to find a presto this year. It was insane. I even got scammed on ebay just when I thought I had finally found one! Luckily got my money back. I was trying to explain to friends how annoyed I was cause PCs seemed to have gone extinct but nobody understood haha. I finally got one off ebay for a marked up price of 150$ but it was worth it. I just want you to know, I know how you feel 😅. My only guess is that alot of doomsday preppers killed the PC market this year from apocalypse panic..
