Dacryopinax spathularia
    #26865975 - 08/06/20 08:12 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Help please!

I've managed to get this culture of Dacryopinax spathularia (sweet osmanthus ear) on an agar - transferred it onto some pearled barley, and it colonised it pretty nicely.

Problem is the bulk substrate - I tried a 2/3 coir 1/3 sawdust substrate. Water is as per Bod's bulk sub tek - 5x the amount of coir in metric units, sprinkled over with a thin layer of vermiculite.

This damn thing got contaminated with some trich-looking mould, and I had to throw it away.

I happen to live in a very hot and very humid (think tropical, 29-30+ deg C throughout the year) climate, and I'm not sure exactly how to get this mushroom past the spawn state.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :frown:

Sub looks to wet to me. I would not use coir just hardwood and supplement. My sig has a tek to get moisture content right.

I'll try reducing the amount of water next time, hopefully that helps.

Thanks for the help!!!
