Growing on dead leaves and twigs.

Uk weather.

I thought they were psilocybe cynasces but can tell they aren't are they edible or medical?

They are a species of Gymnopus, probably G. dryophilus.

You'll still have to wait a while for Psilocybe cyanescens to start growing, I guess.

You can see white spore deposits on the caps of a few mushrooms and you will never see white spores on Psilocybe cyanescens or any other Psilocybe unless it's growing under a white spored mushroom, but that isn't the case here. I agree that they are Gymnopus
