Grinding mushrooms for storage

Hey guys
Do any of you have experience grinding mushrooms to powder to store them ? I was thinking of maybe grinding them, or chopping finely them if it's better, to store them in jars. I've read about capsules but I rather have them in jars.
I've tried making tea then turning it into ice cubes and it's working great for short term, but I want to store them longer in a more convenient way, maybe up to a year max, with minimal loss of potency this is important. So why not grinding them ? Also what exactly causes the loss of potency, is it water or oxygen ? or light ? time ? all of it ?
There are threads that mention grinding mushroom but I can't get definitive answers concerning potency. Any thoughts if you've done it before ?
Thanks

Or course you can grind them. But for max 1 year i`d just dehydrate and vacuum in zip bags. I have 5 year old capsules, they didn`t lose any potency. Yes, light and oxygen are first instance of degrading, so you want to dry as fast as possible, in a food dehydrator f.e.

I’d Get them bone dry and store in an air tight container with a desiccant pouch. Put in a cool dark place and leave them be.
Capsules are great and allow for incremental dosing. I’ve tossed them bone dry in my Ninja single serve jar and let it rip. 90% is pulverized down to 120ish micron. No need for that fine powder when putting in caps but I wanted to watch it rip through them. 000 allows for .8-1g and 00 .25-.38 IME.
Quart jar for storage is fine. See my first statement.
What is your goal? I wouldn’t mess with them without reason.
Read read read and you will find potency is just one of those questions/conversations you will avoid. Too many variables to quantify a definitive answer but the general consensus is “a cube is a cube” except the PE / APE cubes.

I like to make em into wrapped chocolates and vacuum seal those.. that way they’re somewhat inconspicuous and ready to eat. Ate a PE choc last week that was at least 6 months old and didn’t seem to have lost any potency.

I also dry them and store them in ziploc bags but in the freezer. Is the freezer bad for them? I remember that being the default method for storage.

Cool method, faht..! I love chocolates. I made some APE/PE ones last november and a friend ate one a month ago that he kept in the freezer and said it was as good as he could've expected... nomnomnom
For large amounts, 2 gallon bag (can hold 12-16oz) with some desiccant packets and then double or triple bag it. Smaller amounts I just use a quart jar with desiccant and store it in a relatively cool, dark closet. I've ate close to year old mush with no noticeable degradation in potency.
