I was out today to scout some potential places to pick shrooms and found 3 types of shroom with nipples on them and was wondering if any of them are the liberty cap. Im not intending on consuming any of these I just wanted to check them for the autumn so if any of them are liberty caps i know where abouts to go.
Here are pictures of each one.
What i will refer to the orange-ish ones:

Smallest ones:

Brown ones:

Habitat: Found these up the hill from my house (East Scotland Near the edge of the Cairngorms), im looking for spots to start picking. The small ones were found in grass about 2-3 metres away from a coniferous forest (280m elevation) and the 2 bigger ones were found in a similar area that was about 20-30 metres higher in a boggy area (but with the same kind of grass etc.) close to the summit of the hill. None of them grew in dung or wood.
Gills: smallest - white gills, only look attached at the very top of the inside of the cap
brown ones - very light brown, attached to stem
orange-ish ones - dark yellow, attached to stem
Stem: smallest - very long for size of cap (1-2 inches), slightly translucent in colour and smooth, hollow, very thin (~1mm) and slightly wavy
brown ones - all over 1 inch, light brown and less smooth (some resistance when i run my finger across it), hollow, about 2mm thick and almost straight.
orange-ish ones - one inch or over, orange (slightly darker than gills) and pretty smooth, hollow, just over 1mm thick and fairly straight
Cap: smallest - up to 1cm diameter, cream and grey in colour, smooth, conical with nipple, convex
brown ones - up to about 2cm wide, brown in colour, sticky, pretty flat cap w nipple, convex
orange-ish ones - same as brown ones but orange-brown in colour and slightly smaller diameters
Spore print color: Brown ones - light yellow
Orange ones - Brown
Smallest ones - still in progress, will update the post when its done.
Bruising: (not really sure about these) smallest - dark grey but almost no bruising
brown ones - dont think there are any bruises
orange-ish ones - very few brown bruises
more pics available on request, although they are starting to dry out

Thank you 🙏
Unfortunately my spore print for the smaller one didn’t work (there was a very faint print with no colour but I’m not sure if that is due to white spores or just a bad print - I’m very new to this)
I did some further research and I realised I was probably looking in the wrong places (next time I’m off to a cow or sheep field), finding this very fun though!
Looking back I can’t believe I thought all I had to do was find a shroom with a nipple 😂

Lol, I feel ya, just don't let it overwhelm you with information, find out what grows in your area and then Research those species and learn what time of year to look and about the habitats they grow in.
