75% rH...broken hygrometer? (PIC)
    #2686473 - 05/16/04 12:47 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

So I think there's a good chance my hygrometer is broken because this is what "75% humidity" looks like:

Does anyone know a way to check calibration? Should I not even bother (I have casings in there that look pretty moist anyways).

AFOAF once used a cheap thermometer / hygrometer combo he purchased at walmart. It would only read up to 75%, and then the needle stopped.

He replaced with a digital model with a remote sensor. He monitors incubation temps with the remote sensor. The hygrometer only reads up to 90%, after which it says "HI%" He considered this to be a worthwhile purchase.

Your hygrometer is probably not suitable for measuring high rH levels.

Well, it used to go up to past 90% so I ruled that out. I think it might have gotten a bit too waterlogged or something. It's the cheapy kind from Radioshack
