Agar Mountains - myc or mold?
    #26863838 - 08/05/20 06:07 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

These are from an oyster spawn i bought online from a shitty vendor. As you can see, the mycelium is reaching to the other side of the plate and looks all fuzzy/fluffy and weird. Its very likely that these cultures are contaminated (the smaller one even has some bacterial growth around it), but i just wanted to make sure that its not all mold.

Is it even worth it to make transfers? Can mycelium react to a contamination by "reaching out" like this?

Pleas tell me that its not all pinmold...

It is really hard to tell with the lighting behind the dishes like that. Can you take different pictures?

your oyster petri's look just like mine, and I don't think mine are contaminated, but to be fair my oyster LC is contaminated and it on grain it eats the contams for breakfast. The contaminated LC is why I have oyters on agar at the moment, I want to test it on grain without the contams and find out if it's faster running with or without the competition.
