Oat husk in stones
    #26863819 - 08/05/20 05:38 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

I did a search and saw complaints about using oats to grow stones. There are talks about yields and fruits, moisture, etc.

I'm just wondering if the complaints about oat husk is for people growing stone in jars (100% oat) or spawned onto other substrates like coir?

Is there no way to get around the husk problem? What grain and substrate do commercial growers use? I remember seeing millet like husk on commercial stones.

I spawned wbs with no stones formed and still ended up with some millet in the stones. Nothing crazy though.

There’s some debate about whether the stones form around grain or consume it. I’ve only just started stone producers but so far I’ve found a lot of corn skins in the stones that look like the myc consumed them and ate the kernel.
