Currently cooking at a tap room. One of the beers is an IPA highly beloved by the employees. The first few days they had the keg it was delicious, every beer after that blatantly smelled like socks.. Has anyone experienced this/other weird smells from beer? As a brew/distillation enthusiast what is it that causes this? Either way its weird at a place that charges 6$ a beer

Although light is usually the culprit in destroying beer taste (it interacts with hop compounds causing the "skunked" flavor in beers with clear bottles), in the case of a keg like this I would guess their lines aren't clean. My dad worked in the industry for 40+ years and said it's very common, even for big, trendy, beer enthusiast bars to have unclean lines.
Hop compounds deteriorate pretty rapidly (why you have to drink IPAs fresh or they lose flavor), so I'm guessing the hops were enough to overpower the bad line taste at first, and as they lose potency it's just not enough anymore and the bad flavors come out.
My $.02

2nd that. Could also be dissolved oxygen in the beer which spoils pretty fast especially with hop heavy beers. That would be shitty filtration practices most likely.

You can get 50 feet of 1/2 inch beverage lines for around 100 bucks. No point in letting them go bad. Managers probably don't have them sanitized regularly either. Probably should after every other keg imo if not each one.

Agreed 100%. I worked at many places and they would rarely clean those.
