The moisture happens to me too at times and mine have been going to completion so I think that’s ok. I am for sure no expert, so I am unfamiliar with those types of jars with the tape and plug on the top? If the plug is fully sealed and the tape is new tape, not the same tape that you used for inoculation with holes in it, I would wager that there is not enough gas exchange, and that the mycelium is suffocating and fruiting in a ditch effort to pass on genetics(spores) before It dies.. In the first pic it does look like there is a small gap in the plug for gas exchange, although I’m not sure if that is enough. It could be but I don’t know personally. I hope that somebody else more knowledgeable weighs in. I suggest using the search bar and looking up “pf jars tape or no tape” or possibly “fruiting invitro before full colonization” and researching what other people have done, or the advice that was given to them while waiting for a more experienced cultivator to weigh in. Good luck!

I would love to know about the moisture on the sides of jars as well. I see people talk about it happening some, but it's pretty consistent on my jars, I've inoculated a LOT of jars over the last several weeks but only put my first cakes into a mini mono and a SGFC on Sunday so I've not gotten far enough to see if that's gonna fuck me over. How much is TOO much? and if I'm following the updated PFTek to the tea and starting with consistent field capacity (at least as well as I can figure it with the squeeze test) then where would the excess moisture be coming from if is too much?

The "plug" is a self-healing inoculation port. While it may appear there is a gap I can confirm it fits very tightly into place. The "tape" is a gas filter exchange that has remained untampered throughout. The substrate was more then dry enough. Bump experts please chime in I'm worried.

Fruit, but don't use any uncolonized grain. They're pinning because it doesn't have proper gas exchange. I have 2-3 micropore tape covered holes on most my jars. Yes I get condensation but that is caused by the absorption of oxygen by the mycelium while it consumes what you've given to eat. I'm surprised you're not getting myc piss, which only adds to the evidence of improper gas exchange. With all that myc you should do a shoebox

Point me towards a solid tek to do that instead of pf brf sgfc cakes if it will be easier, more convenient, or yield more!
/Bump I still haven't taken them out of the jars as a local mycologist reported seeing this before and continuing the consolidation phase for the ones that need it. If I wanted to take them out and "not use any uncolonized grain" would I cut the bottom where there's no myc straight off? /Any other advice? Can I put a needle hole in the top and cover it with micropore tape or will that open me to a world of contaminates? I'd like to continue using these in the future so solution would help for next time. These jars don't have a dry verm barrier because of the "gas filter exchange". Thanks.

You won't need to cut off uncolonized material, it'll just brush off.
