Getting back into the swing of things.

Just what it says on the tin. After nearly a decade I'm getting back into this wonderful hobby and oh my how things seemed to have changed.

I do have a question or rather I'm fishing for opinions on the getting started again portion of my adventure. Whilst I do my shopping and procure all my necessities I'd like to get ahead of the curve and this is where I reach a point of contention I suppose.

Uncle fuckin' Ben.

Y'see I have my MS syringes ready to rock and roll already and typically I do not enjoy MS at all but preferred agar once upon a moon ago but there's going to be a lag time before I get up and running with that as I throw around money picking up this that and the other thing as well as debating SAB v.s. investing in a laminar bench (sourcing a filter for a decent price in Canada makes me want to cry)

So there's a 2-3 week time frame before I can get all that going and as I said I typically don't enjoy growing from MS so my brainfart is to soil myself with Uncle Bens into shoeboxes and by the time those are off to the races I should be able to select viable clones out of them. Yes I'm aware of failures, contamination and such but my end goals back in yonder days were always clone cultures so I figure even with failure rates this gets me there quicker than isolating on agar when I have all my equipment and hoping the sample I grow is half-decent in characteristics.

Does this make sense to anyone else or is my mental transmission slipping gears. Proper agar, grains and such is 2-3 weeks out into the future and I'll be looking for cloneworthy tissues first run anyway so is it the height of stupidity to inoculate a bunch of Uncle Bennies and take my failure rate right off the hop so when I'm setup I save myself a fair bit of time?

Gracias amigos.

Can’t hurt right? Either you have some clones and save a lot of time or you’re out a few drops of spores.

Idk anything about the uncle Ben tek, only reason I’ve heard of it seems to be people coming jere from reddit asking what went wrong lol.

Why not brf or wbs jars? Hit em with the syringe then spawn to coir.

That said I think most varieties are stabilized to the point that ms is pretty awesome 90% of the time. I’ve done probably 25 and not been disappointed yet. Idk if it’s from stabilization or advancing cult knowledge but the difference between ms grows now and what I’ve seen in some 10+ year old threads is crazy.

Didn't want to fire off any jars until I got my PC, never cared for steam sterilizing without one. I figure 10 or so bags of Uncle Bens on the cheap gets me started today even if 80% of them end up in the outdoor garden I'm only out a $5 MS syringe and under $20 in materials to save me time. If even one big fat viable cloneworthy cluster appears from the initial investment that puts me ahead of the curve if that makes sense.

Oh my my how things have changed though, those bod teks make me laugh at how anal everything used to be.

And now you've got 500 pounds of substrate in a basement.
Did you encounter a single problem along the way?
You've shown me that you can go from MSS to super bulk grow in 5 months and now I've got a benchmark to beat.
