Is there any Cubes that doesn't taste like foot?

Believe it or not, I have never tasted Cubes.
Got myself some sub prints I'm trying to trade and suddenly remembered reading somewhere that some cube taste horrible. So I can't decide which kind of cube to get. Was thinking PE or TOC but open suggestions.
I would assume that anything dried would taste very mild, so can anybody tell me which active mushrooms taste delicious when fresh? Quick stir fry with a bit of butter maybe? Or even Tomyum soup

Holy crap, shroom tom yum. It would be delicious and not damage anything. I think PE would taste better on average just because they produce much less spores. Cubes taste like a mushroom for the most part but the spores are bitter.

I'm gonna have to try that!

If you like shiitake and oyster mushrooms, it's pretty much guaranteed that you will like fresh cubes picked before the veil breaks. They are delicious. Even mycelium scraped off agar is delicious. Unless you put something nasty in the agar, of course.
Dried cubes, meh.

Dunno, PE tastes a bit nuttier than regular cubes to me, more like woodlovers.

shrooms taste terrible in general if you have sensitive taste buds. that being said:
they have a taste profile that pairs well with certain other foods. namely, chocolate, peanut butter, and savory foods like chicken. their texture is also very stringy and this is somewhat resistant even to cooking, so keep that in mind when incorporating it in your cooking - either dry and pulverize it to powder (and use chunky peanut butter for instance to mask this) or incorporate this texture into your final dish - it's a bit similar to enoki mushrooms in it's stringy resistance to cooking.
some excellent options are making it into an omelette or using it in stews for fresh, or drying it, powdering the shrooms, and mixing it with chunky peanut butter (or smooth, smooth is fine too i guess <.< ) and a bit of sugar, making them into little balls, then tempering some chocolate and dipping the peanut butter balls in them to make chocolate buckeyes. you won't taste the shroomness at all, because peanut butter and chocolates taste profiles mask it completely.
or you can make shroom water (aka boil the shrooms, fresh or dried, for 15-20 minutes) and use it to make your favored tea (ginger is good for reducing nausea, if you can stand ginger... i cant.) (also i've not found a tea that masks shroom taste well.), chicken noodle soup with one of those instant noodle packets (excellent choice i hear!), or some instant hot chocolate mix of your choice (my personal choice, and highly recommended. it masks it perfectly, and chocolate is an excellent synergy with shrooms. plus it relaxes you before the come up, which will come rather quickly!)
i have sensitive taste buds, so i can personally attest to these methods as proven to mask the taste of shrooms amazingly well. sadly, while you can saute them to mask the taste decently well, the texture really is harder to deal with. they just don't soften up like white button shrooms you may be used to, and they will still taste a bit different as well, though much improved from cooking.

I'm one of the "supertasters" who has more than double the taste buds compared to normal people and any mushrooms taste quite bad to me also (along with a lot of other foods).
The way I have been doing things is making a small cup of mushroom tea and then pouring it into ~400ml of juice that was made with a lot of syrup, so the sweetness masks the taste, and the final 500ml or so dilutes things out also. It helps with blood sugar and results in smoother comeup and helps a little with the dehydration I get during these trips.

Fresh mushrooms taste like dirt and water (pleasant) and dry well feet. Not the other way around.
Double the taste buds? Make a tea and gulp it down.

I think that this has more to do with perspective. After drinking a tea made from a cactus, such as San Pedro, your dried mushrooms will taste like candy in comparison.

They taste worse the more you trip imo. I like tea, it still tastes like mushrooms but I reduce it down to 2g per ice cube so it doesn’t linger for too long.

I normally in the past just ate them with a glass of orange juice as a chaser. Now I only make tea and just enough for about 2-3 gulps. Smoothie would be good too.

I do not like the taste of cubes. It does not taste good. I always eat my shrooms with some kind of food, helps a ton

like i said, try the shroom water and use it for hot cocoa. or make chocolate buckeyes if you prefer an edible version instead for a slower come up. chocolate completely masks the taste profile of shrooms, it's freaking amazing. it makes some sense, as they both have bitter, umami, and sour notes in them.
i recommend Swiss miss or ghrirideli, godiva, or some other fancy instant choco mix of your preferred type. might as well go for the good stuff!

go for it, the mini marshmallows won't hurt anything... if anything, they probably help mask any slight variance in mouthfeel from shroom water compared to just plain tap water. i always go for the marshmallows myself. :P

I was very surprised when my recent KSSS saucer buttons tasted like a warm nutty Shiitake. I know cubes are cubes, but these were especially enjoyable fresh, much MUCH more than the other jars that grew normal mushrooms and not the little saucer button mutants.

They don't taste bad at all IMO. Have you ever eaten raw mushrooms (non psychoactive)? They have a slight floury-earthy taste.
