Should I have a shroom session while afflicted with poison ivy?

I haven't tripped in at least twenty years. A few weeks ago I planned a shroom session for this weekend with two good friends-one very experienced with shrooms and the other like me getting back after a long break.
I contracted poison ivy last week, pretty bad. Its gross, pussy crusty and oozy. I was prescribed Prednisone today-ill be taking it for two weeks.
Two questions for which I seek the advice of the collective: 1. Any possible side effects with the Prednisone (a steroid)? 2. Am I setting myself up for a horrible trip if my arms are still gross and pussy?
It was hard to get my friends to put this date on the calendar (we are busy profess, and I pushed for it, so I would prefer to keep the date and not look like a jerk by asking my friends to postpone.

I can’t speak for the reaction between the steroids and the mushrooms, I don’t know the science there.
I can say I’ve used mushrooms 5 days post being punched in the eye with a branch of poison oak (I believe poison oak and poison ivy contain the same oil that causes the skin irritation). I was doing some trail maintenance, a branch got snagged, I tugged and it whipped me in my eye. My body swole up 24 hours later, I spent 3 days in bed staying stoned enough to resist the urge to scratch. By day 5 the inflammation was starting to decrease, I was still covered in rashes.
I deal with poison oak fairly frequently, so I’m used to being covered in it. It had no effect on my “trip”. I did feel like being on mushrooms alleviated a lot of the irritation, and definitely reduced the swelling. The following day the inflammation seemed to return, so take it for what you will. Maybe I hallucinated the reduced inflammation and irritation 😉 so maybe it’s beneficial in that sense.
All that being said, that’s my subjective experience with it. I feel like it was a good choice, and I wouldn’t let the thought of rashes or boils bother you during a trip. Take it as a sign of how tough you and your body are for being able to deal with and overcome them👍.
Again, I’m not a doctor, please wait for someone for chime in on the effects of mixing the sterioids with mushrooms, as that’s something I’ve never dealt with. But if medically safe to do so, go have a great time with your friends man, don’t let a little skin irritant hold you back. Or don’t, if you feel like it’s a bad idea, trust your gut.

Great advice, thank you. I suppose the trick is to have a positive attitude about it going in. I suppose I'll make a game time decision.

If the current condition causes you discomfort of any sort you'll get it amplified a lot during a trip, possibly to a point it gets very distracting and won't let you have a good experience. It isn't usually a good idea to trip when there's some physical ailment bothering you.

I agree. Everytime Ive tried tripping with back pain it really takes away from the enjoyment of the experience. I also had an issue with my leg for a while and it also seemed to bother me a lot when tripping even if I was laying down not using it much.
