The state molds them into paranoid schizophrenics and then gives them a gun and tells em to go look for trouble. And people wonder why theyre always shooting people. We practically got bands of post-apocalyptic bounty hunters as our peacekeepers. It's inevitable that when cops are around, people dont feel safer, they feel like potential prey to a predator. It's just how cops are designed to be in the US
I think it's consistent to both recognize that cops are human beings who have their own thoughts, emotions, desires, and whatnot while also recognizing that the US police force as an institution is in serious need of change.
Furthermore, it's not like cops are born into being cops. It's a career path. If it's not a healthy lifestyle, you can quit any time. There are other ways to serve and protect your community if that's what you wanna do with your life.

People get stubborn and nervous and twitchy around cops, which pisses them off. If you know how cops work youll know how to behave around them and how to navigate the interaction as smoothly and uneventfully as possibly.
Cop interactions go wrong when people slip up and lose their temper or show discomfort or disliking for the cop, acting entitled, etc. which too many people seems to suck at

Yeeeaahhh, this should NOT happen. They are controlling a persons moves by intimidation and that's just wrong.

Why in the FUCK should we as a non cop/citizen "have to know how to behave around THEM". FUCK THEM and their fucked up intimidation and power trips!

I partly agree here, but don't you think the cops are "acting entitled" on their power trip of having a murder/killing weapon right there in plain sight on their hip and ready to just shoot at any given moment or feeling of threat no matter how small or whatever etc...? Why the fuck should we have the upmost respect for someone intimidating the fuck out of us with a weapon on their person and their fucking hand on it when they approach the car?

My interactions with cops have generally gone pretty smoothly, but any time I've been pulled over I made sure to have the relevant documents ready before they came to the window. I did once see some pull some crazy shit on my cousin once when he apparently (sort of) resembled the description of someone who had committed a rape nearby. They were so certain he was the guy (based on "white guy with dreads") that it took them a while to think of checking his arms for the defensive scratch wounds the guy was supposed to have. In the meantime one of them told him "You know, I could punch you in the head right now" for not having any clue what the fuck they were talking about.

I dunno Rexy-baby, one can argue about what 'should be' and what's 'right' all day long, but it don't make it so.
I think trees is absolutely spot on. It's well worth bearing in mind how much one can win, if one 'plays the game' well, as compared to how much one can lose if one becomes stubborn and refuses to play or to learn the game.
Cops are a thing. Rules and laws are a thing. If we break them, it's on us to mitigate any damage to ourselves, right?

Rosa Parks shouldve just shut up and known her place. If she didnt wanna get arrested maybe she should've just gone to the back of the bus like the rules said. Wouldve been way easier for her if she just played the game!

Problem is profiling. You can do everything by the book and have a shit time because you have the "wrong" look and meet the wrong cop.

This is a definite problem. I am a clean cut shaved white middle aged man in a decent car with short hair (well, long hair now) and ray bans. Do you really think they would think I had LSD, mushrooms, weed, coke, and cactus tar on me? I'm guessing no, and I never travel with all that. BUT, I may take it to my cabin for use and could get popped on the way, but highly unlikely due to my "look".

Yep, I know all to well about game playing to get by. I have done it since I learned of the game. I have gone to the fringes and pushed it for myself, but still manage to stay in the game. I'm in it, to win it! (not really, but I like that saying) I'm a hippy incognito (new band name).

I play the game just as everyone else does. I'm at a VERY comfy level in it too.
