P. Tampanesis Cultivation Confusion

Greetings, shroomers, this is a second attempt to cultivate P. Tampanesis in using a spore syringe to inoculate BRF cakes. First batch was taken over by black mold and I believe the syringe may have been the source. Tossed everything and started over with (hopefully) a clean source. Inoculated 7/4 into BRF cakes again and double checking everything to ensure no contams. This time, the process was again slower to start, but since the previous growing experience has mainly been limited to B or GT, am now thinking the growth I’m seeing could be pinning, but am really struggling with this strain and looking for more experience than is available locally. Have also had issues in our tropical climate walking a fine line between too much air and drying substrate, vs. too wet. Have moved mostly to growing on BRF spawned to pasteurized coir in a 30 qt flip top tote and that has helped the contam issue when fruiting, but it has still been hit or miss, starting with a flush of 2-3 monster sized specimens, but then dwindles quickly to smaller and smaller fruits, only sporadically fruiting. Current batch of GT has been going since 5/25, putting off a few here and there. Seems like most growers have to worry about lack of humidity, but when you live in the tropics, seems strange that in the “perfect environmental conditions” of the subject strain, there would be so many issues....

Yeah definitely stones. You can take them out or just mix them into coir and they’ll get bigger.
Your problems with cubes could be from brf not carrying enough nutrients for a bulk tub.
If you have a pc you should try grains and use the brf and little jars as agar and plates.
Also this thread should help you out with the tamps https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22527453

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I want to get started on grains, but most things have to be shipped here, however, there are some horseman here so I could probably get a bag of oats or other grains at the feed store. I just really have to be careful with contams, because even if shrooms won't grow, there are a LOT of yucky things that thrive here in the "fungus/mold/yeast" categories, which is why I went to coir substrate, since it won't support mold growth. I do have an Instant Pot, but had to leave my stovetop PC behind when we left "civilization!" I started with the easier strains and am trying to find a sweet spot so I can get more comfortable growing and understanding this medicine. Contributions from fellow members has helped immensely. Thank you all!

So, your theory on the other strains not having enough nutrients makes sense. Our regular garden plants have to be fertilized more often than when we were in the states, as it is a harsh climate due to winds and proximity to the equator. Maybe the climate is also harsh on the shrooms, even though they aren't directly affected by the sun. I remember dumping one "spent" tub outside in a shaded corner, just to watch enormous fruits emerge after the first hard rain...Is there a way to remedy that issue while in the tub? Seems like Mother Nature always knows best, we just try to produce cheap imitations!!

lol right on.
I use bird seed which is pretty common all over the place. I used an instant pot for months when I first started out. I had to read to manual to find which settings got to 15psi and I could only do one quart at a time but that’s still plenty just for messing around with.
My instant pot setting for chicken is what I used, I’m assuming most are probably similar Incase you’re wondering in the future and can’t find anything on it.
You should read up on making paste from brf and using it like agar. Having clean spawn will be a huge help both with bigger yields and fighting off contaminations.

Those cakes can also just be cased and fruited as is.
