That's a tough one to argue. We're pretty much a laughing stock on the world stage now. Fortunately most other countries understand that our government doesn't totally represent our population, we still have some of the most respected academic institutions, tech innovation, and medical research in the world. Another 4 years of voting in the same circus of grifters will stretch that respect pretty thin though. The america first ideology is beneficial in many ways, but in such a connected word when we're so deep in debt and reliant on resources and manufacturing abroad, it's not practical at all as an overarching approach to governing.

Says who? The media? LOL.
Most people are not listening to or getting their opinions from the media. They know Trump was voted in to remove the corruption and is doing so, it's hard when almost everyone in the government was corrupt prior to taking office. Hopefully he can accelerate his corruption removal during his second term.

This is why China released the Covid 19 virus on Trump. It's all a dirty plan to hurt his re-election chances. It's not working!

Serious you believe that? Trump is feckless and weak and countries like China and North Korea are using him as a doormat. Do you think it’s a coincidence that China has taken over control of Hong Kong? They know the US has lost any influence to prevent it from happening. It’s such a sad state we are in. We are the laughingstock of the world. Rome is burning and we’re stuck with Nero/

Name a single person in government or connected to government that wasn’t connected to trump that has “gone down.” Trumps administration is the most corrupt in American history. I have no doubt not even half the shady shit going down is even in the media at all. I personally know someone who was in the administration who was involved in some seriously illegal activity taking advantage of his high ranking politically appointed government job. Everyone trump surrounds himself with is dirty.

We're pretty much checking off all the boxes of a failing democracy.
Biden won't change anything really, but at this point I'd favor that over another 4 years of everything going downhill except for the bank accounts of wall st folks. I'm someone who's voted for republicans more than democrats, mostly at the state level. The trumpies and todays republicans in washington are a disgrace and nothing more than errand boys for their corporate donors. Most democrats are exactly the same, but some of them are at least smart enough parasites to understand that keeping a host alive and somewhat healthy is necessary for their future survival.
You're really splitting hairs here, D's are completely on board with almost everything Trump has done. In fact, Obama passed the legislation in many cases that enables US Presidents to do so.
The corporate media is the enemy of the people in most cases. How many false narratives that help The Establishment at the expense of the people do you need them to push out?
I will grant you that the D's talk a better game when it comes to the working class, but that's all it is, just talk. Too bad the corporate media doesn't report the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party, at least the Republicans don't hide their disdain for the general population.

But Trump never did even one nationalistic policy, so how can you even conclude it wouldn't be effective? He talked about economic nationalism, but he didn't do it.
The reason why the US is a joke compared to other developed nations is because of the massive wealth inequality, lack of a functional health care system and the fashion we handled the pandemic. All of those outcomes are because we don't practice any form of economic nationalism.

The last thing I want to do is defend the democratic party, but that's just disingenuous. All it takes is a cursory glance at any of the stimulus bill drafts by the two parties to see where many differences in priorities lie. And that's just one example, it's not hard to see the overwhelming differences between the parties when it comes to healthcare for all, social security, tax cuts for the wealthy, environmental health and safety, workplace safety, student debt and education, etc etc. Mitch McConnell and the republicans in the senate have basically refused to govern unless the progressives on the left cave to their will.
You know that trump wasn't talking about what you're talking about with the media, he was talking about the stations that are critical of him. How often has he called One America News fake news or the enemy? It's basically a qanon channel at this point, yet he praises it and promotes it. He praised alex jones and infowars and tweeted links to it. The mainstream media has always been biased and people have the right to choose from 10,000 other sources of news, this isn't some north korea one party channel system. A president calling anyone, even corporate grifters, who are exercising their freedom of speech the 'enemy of the people' because they're critical of him is dumb, and dangerous.

Trump has pulled out of the paris climate agreement, pulled funding from the WHO, spent billions on his mexico fence, and constantly spouts america-first rhetoric in ways that make the US look to the rest of the world like the kid who's taking his ball and going home.
As I said there are obviously many benefits broadly to putting america first and in many areas we do, but we are not in a position to further isolate ourselves from the rest of the world right now like trump's rhetoric seems to suggest. One month into a pandemic and we had nearly exhausted all our PPE and many medical supplies. The type of concerted effort it would take to make us more independent in the area of medical supplies alone is likely not possible or realistic in the current 2 waring party system, and would take years even with cooperation and funding. You're talking about economic nationalism which is not what I was talking about, I don't think trump would even know what that means.
