Keeping the Bob Ross dream alive... wtf.

Anyone catch the two episodes of the officially sanctioned show on YouTube?
It’s a certified Bob Ross teacher trainer painting in his style. He even uses his catch phrases and beats “the devil out of the brush”
I think I’m disgusted.. maybe in shock.

Yeah, I'm not a fan. His voice is wrong, and his personality isn't as good either. And I think trying to imitate bob ross so blatantly is the wrong direction to go. He should try to be someone new and do things different. I would be more supportive if they tried out a bunch of different people and kept the best.

Lmao I'd bet my left nut that most bob ross fans dont know that his style was ripped off of his mentor William "bill" alexander. So at anyone being offended at anyone trying to imitate bob ross :p

It’s not painting like bob ross that is offensive. It’s copying his catch phrases in combination with the setup, etc. he even copies the noises he makes while painting various strokes.
It is akin to having a comedian retelling a dead comics jokes for a 60 minute set and charging admission. It’s just creepy. Even admitting to it is kinda weird. Not to mention they are monetizing the shit out of it.
I could be wrong but Bob seemed more genuine about spreading painting as a gift to be enjoyed by all.
This is demigoding.

Bob Ross seemed like a nice guy, but the paintings themselves look like something you'd see hanging in a motel or something.

I ve been planning on following along with a Bob Ross program, maybe one of his easier ones. Worse comes to worse, I can always sell it to a motel.
Be curious to see how his paintings developed overtime in his programs if he was able to keep on trucking amongst those happy trees. His last show was in 94(started in 83), he died a year later.

The thing is, bob ross did things very differently than william alexander. If you watch the two shows, they're wildly different, especially in personality and presentation and what they say and how they talk. It's just the opposite with this new show, which seems like the guy is trying and failing to exactly duplicate bob ross. I just think they should try out a bunch of different people, and keep whoever is the most fun/best/etc.

Yeah holy jeez just label it as the new guys name em he doesn’t have to pretend to be someone else. I wouldn’t want to do it right now because I feel like with some hard work things will keep going in the Right direction. If I was down and out and feeling defeated totally and someone offered this to me, I may take the offer if the money is right. so it’s probably not hard to find a struggling artist who is sick of trying to come up off their own ingenuity, it’s hard work.
It’s still the executives exploiting ross name, but the Ross estate is probably getting something out of this too ya kno. I bet his loved ones sold his dead name or how else can they use his entire likeness?

Bob Ross is the man, would have loved to have had the chance to meet him, he seems so down to earth, it would be so cool to smoke a bowl with him and learn to paint, rest in peace Bob.
