For all the people up in the blue mountains the season is basically over, there has already been several flushes earlier this year from that region. Considering it's late in the season, now is the time to head to areas (closer to the coast) that didn't have the appropriate temps to fruit before. The last huge bout of rain was great but the temperatures were probably a tad too warm across the board (15 plus degrees) however if there is another period with colder temps, that should trigger them.

Definitely winding down here in the Newcastle area. Pretty average season compared to last year. Found a few patches bearing fruit after the east coast low came through. Bring on the dung lovers in a few months.
Happy Hunting😊

Found this solitary specimen.

No luck other than that.
Gonna head out for a last ditch effort tomorrow then I’ll give it a rest.
Maybe start looking further down the mountains instead.

Pretty gross hey. In this state, 0.15 grams is considered a traffickable offence and carries up to 15 years imprisonment. Plus they will be charged on mushroom weight, not psilocybin content.

Ouch, that sucks.
They weigh the shrooms and this weight determines the amount of psilocybin u are charged with (even though the amount of the drug in each mushie would be small).
Would be better if they had been allowed to dry......then only be charged with 12grms.
Not fair but thats how it is done.

wow. he caught a serious charge for being 20grams over the limit for a trafficking charge. I hope that people will write the judge and ask for leniency for this young man.
edit: in the U.S it's based on dry weight, so if he had a 120 grams fresh he would have been charged with approximately 12grams

I think that something does not add up here -- according to this https://aivl.org.au/law/nsw/, the law is based on pure psilocybin (they say that 0.01g is 1 dose, and 100g is the life penalty in the same sentence).
each gram of dry cubensis has a little under 0.01g pure psilocybin, so it seems to be that the law is based on pure psilocybin, and 100g of pure psilocybin would be needed for a life sentence.
This 19 year old would have had 10kg+ of cubensis DRY to have over 100g of pure psilocybin.
I think that either the journalist writing up that article has no idea that magic mushrooms are not pure psilocybin, or that kid really really should get a lawyer that knows the basics of how much psilocybin is in a mushroom.

In the very article you linked it states... " NSW uses a mixed weight system of calculating threshold quantities for trafficking. NSW police and prosecutors take the total weight of the seized drug sample (e.g., pills, tablets, caps, points, joints, mixtures, or preparations) to be the total quantity of the prohibited drug when charging you." ie- the entire substance is taken into weight.

These weren't exactly found in NSW, but near the NSW border over in QLD. So we just went for a bit of an explore in the national park and found a wicked little patch which caught us extremely off guard considering from all the other patches we had checked the day before we could only scrounge up a measly 10 grams of wet mushrooms. considering we havent had too much rain over the past couple weeks and it had been reasonably dry this patch was going off. I would love to see what this patch would be like earlier in the season as they seem to love the shorter days up here.
