First grow in my closet/preventing contamination
    #26859088 - 08/02/20 02:50 PM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hi! This will be my first grow. I am going to use my bedroom closet as I feel it will provide a safe dark environment. It is a small closet and the walls and floor are all wood. My mushrooms will be in plastic totes that sit inside the closet. I am looking for tips/suggestions on the best way to keep this area contaminant free. Has anyone used anti-mold paint? Any info helps as I am a complete newbie. Thanks!!

You have so much more reading to do my friend. Once we put mycelium to substrate there is not much you can do to protect it. Its doing everything right prior to that, that helps you against contaminants.

But I have the feeling that you are going to buy grow boxes right?

A colonized tote, with properly prepared grain (as the previous poster say) is quite resistant against contam so dont worry. In my opinion out of the closet and just next to it would actually be better, except if you dont like the look of it or it looks disorderly to just have it standing around, since the mushrooms profit from some (indirect) light.
