Horse Manure Mushroom ID?
    #26858767 - 08/02/20 12:14 PM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hello,

This is my first post on Shroomery!

While mowing my pasture in North Carolina this morning I found several of these growing directly in horse manure.  I am doing a spore print right now and will post that when it is done as well.  From looking at common species that grow on horse manure this looks the most like Panaeolus Campanulatus?

Any help is much appreciated.

It looks like Panaeolus antillarum.

P. campanulatus is a deprecated name for what is now known as P. papilionaceus. They are usually
more slim and have reddish brown stems, as well as "tooth-like" veil remnants along the cap margin.

Welcome to the Shroomery.

Well that was interesting,

I went to check my spore print this morning.  All of the mushrooms had decinigrated into piles of mush.  Where the spore print was supposed to be there were all of these little tiny worms crawling through the mushroom mush.

I found another one of these from the same spot and got a nice spore print after 2 hours rather than leaving it all night.
