*squeaks* Adventures with PE

So! I am on my third grow ever! The first grow was a disaster. Second grow a little more successful as I refined my technique but this grow! *does her happy dance*
I colonized a rye grain bag with PE spore and waited while it slowly fuzzed up. I then after doing research on this board disregarded my idea of using an aquarium and instead set up a monotub in a shallow tote I had. Did a classic set up. Holes along the side, poly fill, etc...
From my colonized rye bag I layered the mycelium with a sterilized mixture of manure, peat moss, vermiculite, and shredded hardwood mulch. Sealed it up and waited for the mycelium to full colonize the substrate.
Once that step completed I cased the whole thing in coco perlite mix. Now, here was where it got a little strange in regards of expectations. The mycelium colonized the casing. I had not expected that but took it in stride. I waited, and waited for any pins to pop and it was... a wait! However, all at once I had two (my earlier birds) and then had many, many more!
I snagged my two earlier birds a couple days ago. 85 grams wet and gave them a test drive last night, consuming the mathematical equivalent of 2 dry grams wet... and yeah, that was a very nice ride.
Anyhoo! Wanted to share! Once these babies started pinning I gave the whole colony an open air, sun kissed introduction to the world, and as I am working from home I am able to spray them down often as I noted with my set up the pins took off in areas where the water pooled. *cuddles her mushrooms* Once the box is ready for the full harvest I will post a picture! But I had to share my two early birds!
