DMT A/B Acid boil question

Hello people, First off sorry dont know if this is the proper place to ask. Ive been thinking about a 500g Extraction on AANPRB in a 2L Flask using Earthwalker tek by doing a Acid Boil x3-4 then simmering down to 1.5lish into the 2L Flask then basifying. My question is do you change the ratio of lye and salt etc due to 500g bark, or do you just keep the same measurements for 100g bark in 2l? Thinking of making a batch of lye solution before the acid boil then adding based of pH, anyone with experience in this area give me some advice? Cheers

Yeah, just add lye solution to reach the desired pH, then extract with the organic solvent.

You can always use a pressure cooker to halve your cook times as well.
Take it easy when doing the reduction, just simmer it gently rather than rapid boil or you'll destroy your actives.

Wish could get a pressure cooker but out of budget for now. I was going to go at about 60oC (140 F), recon thats good?

I could be wrong but you may have to add a touch more lye then what's in the tek, while it is the same amount of liquid over all it has a higher concentration of actives and fats and such that could drop the PH higher or lower
Probably wouldn't need to add to much more to reach the same PH mabye an extra 10 or 20 grams, if you have a PH meter though just measure it as you go and add more as needed, even the cheap paper litmus strips are widely available
I'd be wary of using a PC to cook with, if the pressure is to high or goes to long it could get hot enough to degrade the actives potentially since PC's reach a higher internal temp when they're pressurized compared to a normal pot on the stove

Cheers mate, yea I was thinking make a bigger batch than needed and using this cheap hydro ph meter to get 13 ish ph, I was just going to use a crockpot with the lid off at 60oC for the boil and simmer.

Crockpot is ideal for this. Never heard of anyone doing the boil in a pressure cooker. Seems like you risk it getting too hot since the whole point of a pressure cooker is to trap the steam to achieve temps higher than the bp of water.

I assume for the time aspect as the crock pot takes I think an hour per boil, and longer for reduction. Thought I wish i had a PC for boomers wouldn't risk the high temps on Acid boil

Here's an example of a 200g pressure cooker batch of acuminata, 1st 2 pulls.

I'm trying the PC thing right now. Modified Cyb ATB tek: - fill 50g bark in pint jars with a filtered lid - add 200 ml water - stir - put in freezer over night - take out of freezer - put jars in cold (tap water cold) water bath (I use a PC for it with the lid off, the same used later) - slowly increase heat not to break the jars due to thermal stress - wait until there's a free floating chunk of frozen material in the jars - ramp up the heat and bring up to pressure - PC for an hour and let it cool on it's own until there's no pressure left (letting steam out too fast will cause the bark/water mix to start boiling and making a mess, boiling through the filter into the PC water) - then fill in larger containers (I use 1l borosilicate lab bottles for 50g bark, they fit nicely in my larger pressure cooker which is then used for the heat baths after basifying) - follow Cyb's tek from the acidifying stage on.
I've been getting consistent 1.4% yellow non-waxy yield following exactly Cybs tek. I'll report back if the freeze/thaw/pressure cook stage does increase yields.

^ Nice, 1.4% already seems really good. Interested to see whether PC affects yield, or whether it just saves time.

As far as I can tell it just reduces the required time, it means one can finish a big cook in about 2 hours.
What source material are you using BirdSeed?
