What’s the white bulb on this mushroom cap?
    #26856613 - 08/01/20 03:44 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys! First time grower looking for some advice. Does anyone know what the white clump on the cap of one or two of these golden teachers is? I can’t find a thing about it via google.

P.S. I know kits are frowned upon, I’ll be branching out to the PF Tek for my next adventure

Those blobs on caps are fine, just genetic mutation.
They`re safe for advanced microscopy

You may clone one, and get a big tub full of them.

Looks quite freaky

Idk if summer makes that mutation happen more or if more people are growing right now but it’s crazy how often this question has come up the last month or so.

I don’t think I’ve ever grown gt without getting a few of those.

Yep b+ and gt seem to be the ones that always get it. Usually mine are similar to the ops but a couple times they’ve been super fuzzy. Looked like the end of a Santa hat.

This has been super reassuring, thank you everyone! Now when they try to convince me the white ball is going to kill me I have some screenshots to show myself 😬

How certain is everyone that these are just genetic mutations? I’m just curious as to what research has actually been done to figure out what exactly it is, or if it’s just growers with years of experience that have seen it over and over perpetuating their experience?

No flame, just curious.

I’m assuming it’s just a fruiting body fruiting on top of a fruiting body, but what has been done for people to come to this conclusion?
