When to plan next strain?
    #26853205 - 07/30/20 09:43 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

I have my first grow of B+ in the FC right now 4 days into fruiting. I assume 2wks per flush at 3 flushes equaling about 6 weeks. I only have 1 fruiting chamber, and have 3-4 other strain syringes.
1) When should I start the jar process again for the next strain?
2) Can I combine strains in the same FC if they require around the same conditions?

The other ones I have are Amazonian, Penis envy and Golden teacher.

From spawning to first harvest would be ~3 weeks,
following flushes come way faster then, about one
week for each.
You won`t be able to plan it to the point,
cause you can never say how many flushes you pump out.

We talk about brf cakes or bulk by the way?

Brf. I want to get a couple under my belt before I move up to anything else. And okay, a rough estimate is good enough for me!

Cakes do best when they’re crowded in close together just an FYI. And they’re all the same strain - cubensis - so even different varieties grow in the same conditions, you can definitely mix and match in your FC.

Once all your cakes are pinning you’ll realize they don’t really grow in uniform flushes most of the time. I’d inoculate another batch now for sure though, and another batch a week or two from now. You can never have too much clean mycelium around. If you don’t have room for them you can put in the fridge maybe to slow them down a bit or just fruit them from their jars with a ziploc placed over the top.

Of course you can combine standard cubensis in one chamber,
as they're all multispore from a syringe.

EDIT: Ok, a bit too late :tongue2:
More detailed above.

Thanks for the info! So i can just let the mycellium sit around for a couple weeks/months after they've fully colonized?

I had one of my cakes start growing in the jar white waiting on the others. Is this preventable with just spore taping the holes? And then its just mycellium chillin in a jar?

As there is some air exchange, they will fruit after a while
in the glass after full colonization.
That`s what Roger Clemency said, to fruit invitro.
You let them grow out of the jar,
with a ziplock as a tent above.
You`ll have some verm then on the fruits
You mean micropore tape?
That`s for gas exchange during colonization.
There must be some air exchange, or your jar is dead soon.

But how many jars you plan to make?
A big sgfc fits lots of cakes.

Here’s a cake I threw some coir and a ziploc baggie on and fruited from the jar. Got an oz wet from this cake

I would definitely get as many BRF jars going as you can. You can always grate them to shoeboxes too.

Oh nice! I figured you'd have to have more air exchange and air coming from underneath for them to grow, but I guess not! I had 8 of my 9 cakes make it into the FC. 4 1/2pint and 4 pint. I will get the other ones going this weekend or next and do some research on jar growing and shoeboxes!

With BRF cakes you can’t keep them too long, they fruit in vitro once consolidated but if you put them in the fridge right before or at 100% it should hold it off for a while, I don’t know about months though lol. But in that case the top fruiting or shredding up into coir in a shoe box would be better because mushrooms bro :awesomenod:

And you never know when a whole batch might not work out, especially using spore syringes so it’s good to have a few things going.

So I took y'alls advice and went a little jar crazy this past weekend! I ended up PCing 15 more jars and ended up getting an arms full of PP5 containers and got 3 of those going. Unfortunately, the only thing I have is an Instant Pot so I can only do 5-6 jars at a time, but the lovely thing is I can just set and forget! I am inoculating tonight at the first sign of moonlight  :1up:  :1up:  :moon:

Side note: my B+ have been in the FC since the night of the 26th, and I'll be damned, they look soooo beautiful! I am now a proud father of some amazing fungi, because I am a funguy! 😂

Thank you thank you they really started sprouting the last two days! Crash test, im really excited just for tbe jars. Do you have to mist them or will the water from the dunk just keep getting evaporated?

All I did was remove the cakes from the jars 6 days after they were fully colonized. I dunked them and then put about a 1/2” layer of coir hydrated at field capacity (a few drops come out when I squeeze it in my hand really hard) on top of the cake. and then I placed a quart (could use a gallon but it’s kinda big) ziploc baggie over the jar and punched a couple holes in the top, one hole big enough to get my sprayer nozzle into. Then I just set it next to my tubs.

Everything gets 12/12 light even my jars. I really don’t like to mist a lot and it took about a week for the myc to colonize the coir. If the baggies were looking dry I would spray the inside of the bag. After it flushes I just dunk them again for only 3 hours this time and return them to the jars and put the baggie back on top. They go for like 3 flushes
