Hey guys, I wanted to know if anyone here was familiar with the origins of the variation JMF.. I just started working with it and have seen them making their way through the community, but have not seen too much on who started it, where it came from, etc...
Undeniably beautiful,

Thank you all. I hope everyone is well and having a spectacular season 🦾🍄❤️

The strain name is so cringey I wouldn't even grow it if I got a free print.
Like others have said it stinks of someone naming a normal cube to sound more potent with no evidence to support it. Thats at least how I see it.
I think the lack of transparency of what strains went into making it are what alot of growers use to make it appear more valuable.
Would welcome a less cynical explanation but I am just suspect

that same asshead made up all kinds if stupid names like illusion weavers and reality benders, lizard king and a few other gay names that were all just common cubes but he wouls sell 70$ syringes to idiots that didnt know any better. he may also have came out with the Z-strain which many including myself seem to think its just a gt
i have a culture of a z that is killer and my favorite cube culture i have but i really do think its just a gt

Dont forget Great White Monster (which definitely isnt AA+ )
Quote:
So the story goes that this mushroom was accidentally made into an albino by mold inhibiting chemicals being sprayed on it unintentionally thinking it was water. The chemicals were absorbed by the otherwise normal cubensis and it ended up mutating the DNA structure. Subsequent flushes also produced a creamy white mushroom which meant that the strain had officially mutated and is a stable permanent mutation creating all creamy white flushes, with a few hints of tint here and there depending on the amount of light given.
I was one of the lucky to get a print from NHMI "Created by NHMI by accident, GWM was a legitimate cross of PR and regular A-strain. After being exposed to a quaternary reactive ammonium siloxane, the GWM was born. This is the only cubie known to have both albino and leuistic spores. Its' pigmented counterpart is the GBM." -NHMI
Nonetheless, beautiful fruits op

My apologies, I wasn’t trying to offend anyone. Just tying to get to the bottom of where it came from.. so You know the original cultivator then JCM?
I fully agree after having spent over a decade in the canna industry. Trust me, I know.
Idk they seem pretty sweet to me. Tho I am no experienced cultivator and just a noob with a few tubs 🤷♂️
The same argument tho, what is the process for naming wild cubensis isolations? Just like in the canna world, noob growers don’t want to claim something that isn’t theirs so they make up names. I don’t fully agree, but there is no standard practice for how to name and claim a strain.
As far as I know.
To my original point tho, I just wanted to know some history behind the genetics. Where is came from as in geographic location and who found it.. doubt I’ll ever hear the full story

And to your point jcm, I would love to correct the community if jmf was in fact something else. There is nothing more frustrating than misinformation.

No one is offended, its just one of those things
Genetics get mislabeled both intentionally and accidentally. There isnt really a uniform standard, similar to the cannabis industry
And ultimately there isnt much difference between the races (more variation within a race than between races). Most of them arent even distinct in a meaningful way. Then you have PE, TOC, AA+,etc, that are a bit more distinct
So yeah it gets confusing.

mushrooms are not like plants tho and wont absorb things like they do. im pretty sure you could put all kinds of chemicals in the sub and they will not absorb

I just mentioned it because its the silliest origin story I've heard for a variety
That said, myc can absorb toxins, heavy metals, and various typrs of chemicals. Not exactly like plants for sure, but enough so that some otherwise edible mycoremediation projects cant be consumed

I always wondered also. I have a swab but havent used it.
Let's take tailfeathers for example, it's made from Gt, Brazil, & AA+. After 4 generation from the original cross , some white ones appeared. I cloned the white ones and been running that. Are they just AA+? Even tho they are a cross of 3 varieties and the white didn't show back up till F4-F5.
