Strange happebings on a patty I flipped

I'm far from an expert in mycelium but last week out of curiosity and just to try I flipped a few aged pattys in the field walking distance from my house, I've been getting a handful or two most days of Pan Cyans and I always look at one patty in particular on my daily hunt it had active mycelium on it's base and I assumed I'd messed it up by moving it.. and had that confirmed on this forum when I asked earlier this week but that actually is not true today after a few good night's of rain it produced the darkest fattest blue meanies I've found this year so not only did flipping an old patty still fruit it had the fattest stems yet. I got too excited and snipped a few before taking the photo first but zoom in to see the activity on this freak patty 👽

The bluer they are, the more psilocybin got dephosphorylated into psilocin, and the more psilocin got oxidized into psilocyl blueish pigment. So imo, those patties lost more of the active component.

Those dont look like typical Pan cyans to me. Cool to see differing phenotypes.

Dude Before Mycelium Dies, It Sends Out As Many Fruits As It Can So The Species Won't Die Off. It Goes Into A Panic & Starts Popping Out Fruits Left & Right. I'd Be Willing To Bet That Patty Stops Producing.

They Could Possibly Be Another Active Panaeolus Sp In The (Copelandia) Group.

I'm pretty sure they are the same just these were mutant due to growing side ways out of the flipped patty. I 'll post a couple photos of my normal findings below tell me if they look different to you

Well Damn, It Seems To Be Recovering, This Is A Strange Occurrence. I've Never Flipped A Patty In A Field, But I've Moved Patties Around & After I Moved Them, They Stopped Producing, The Mycelium Died.

There's no way moving a patty would kill the entire organism

Well I've Seen It Happen, That's Why I Don't Mess With The Patties That Are Producing Cubes, Because I've Brought Them Back Home, Set Them In A Good Spot To Continue Fruiting & I Got 1 Or 2 Flushes, Then Didn't See Any Further Growth After That, & Conditions Were Perfect.
Maybe The Mycelium Was Just Done Sending Out Fruits. Either Way I Don't Move Patties, I Just Let Them Do Their Thang.

I used to bring back patties from the fields all of the time, trash bags full!
This being said, you'll never get more than a few flushes from them no matter what, because by then the substrate is already drained of all it's nutrients.
I one brought a home a patty that had one huge ass cube pin growing right in the middle of it. That thing grew to monstrous proportions over the next couple of days, draining the patty of all it's nutrients. It was a jet black firm patty too, and it only grew that one huge cube. When I eventually went to pick it, the whole patty collapsed in the center and was totally spent. There wasn't even any more live mycellium anywhere to be found in it,and it crumbled in my hand.
Now, one thing I found that works extremely well, is to take patties that you've found copes/cubes actively fruiting from, with nice myceelium spread through out it, and break all of it up, and make a bed of sorts with it, then you can cover it with hay/straw, totally optional, and keep it well watered. It also helps to mix a bit of fresh manure in there for more nutrients, but this is also optional too.
Anyway, you'll get massive flushes of mushrooms in no time, and it works a lot better than just trying to fruit intact patties, although, you can get more than a couple of flushes out of straight patties if you catch them early enough.
Man, when people would come to visit me, I would have yard full of cow/horse shit, but no livestock to be seen in my yard. It made for a real conversation piece, let me tell ya
Oh how, I miss the Gulf Coast

I'd say they were probably in the perfect microhabitat to fruit where they were so moving them may have disturbed the balance

I don't know, as all the patties that I brought home always fruited at least a flush or two, sometimes three. Once enough mushrooms fruit off a patty, it's spent, I would say, just like with WBS cakes. Things wont fruit forever once the nutrients are all drained out.
