Colonisation has stopped !? Please check my pictures
    #26851467 - 07/29/20 09:47 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hi guys, just wondering if you might be able to help me diagnose an issue I think I'm having. I am using spores in a rye grain medium.

everything seemed to be going ok. got white fuzz in the first 5 days. it started to spread and then thicken but now it seems to have just stopped.

Someone said they thought it was bacteria growth but I really think it's not. very white ropy mycelium with some strands poking out through the vermiculite cap.

Its been 23 days so far

Definitely bacterial and maybe more. The rye is probably slimy and it’s so dark it almost looks black. You can see how thick and unhappy that myc is and the hard stop between the myc and rye is pretty noticeable.

That thing would be close to colonized by now if it was clean. The myc looks like it may have started fairly healthy but the grains themselves are already lived on by something else so maybe it was improperly sterilized. Is this a kit you bought?

Difinitely bacterial.  What is this rye grain medium?  Was it inoculated in sterile conditions?  Grain should be kept in sterile conditions until colonized

Yer this is a Kit. Got it from a pretty well-known company in Scotland. cylocybe UK . the rye was always dark. think it has coco choir (however you spell it) also. a bit frustrating if it is. Have ordered a few other bits from a different company now so see how that goes. think I'm going to try the brf tek and sterilise it myself.
