They all kinda have the best. Almost the entire South/Southeast is famous for BBQ: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and The Carolinas.
Theres a show on TV called BBQ Pitmasters and BBQ Pit Wars and theres a ton of Pitmasters who compete who are from those states. Texas or Louisiana usually wins the trophy. If you love BBQ, check that show out. Its a lot of fun. I even saw a woman compete on there!

Of course, but you can't really put a label on any state for that matter. Just talkin' about what the state is primarily known for.

I suppose you kinda can, yeah. It's the same with North Carolina...the east & west are both known for different styles, but you usually just hear about eastern n. carolina.

3some said: Let's assume that everybody thinks their home state has the best BBQ in the whole wide world. Then what would be the 2nd best?
Please say:
1. which state you are from as a point of reference? 2. which state you think has the best BBQ after your home state? AND 3. why you are voting for that 2nd best state? Taste/dishes/style/etc
Feel free to add your favorite dishes and even recipes. Why not?
1. I'm from Texas. 2. I know Texas has the best BBQ, Oklahoma second, and Kansas City third. 3. OK, because it's really close in taste to TX BBQ. Mesquite is key to that flavor.
I have had BBQ in Memphis, KC, OK, TX, and the best one I've had is Texas. I like mine really sloppy and oozing with sauce though. Dry rub sucks and so does that vinegary shit people like to call sauce. Sweet, tangy, rich, thick, and smoky all the way. Angelo's in FT WT TX is fucking incredible. I grew up with it and it's still open.

Together with his wife, June, brother, Orville and his son, Skeet, patriarch Angelo George opened his business in 1958, with only a walk-up counter and four dining tables. Fast forward to 2018, and that beer joint that cooked up some amazing smoked meats celebrated its 60th Anniversary, has become one of Fort Worth's most recognized restaurants, and is World-famous for their BBQ meats, ice-cold beer, and seasoning products. One of the main reasons for its success is because it has always remained about family.
Been open since 1958, you don't even have to eat there to know it's fucking delicious!
