Just knocked up 5lb blocks of pure Soy Bean Hulls... will this work!?
I was doing some commercial edible mushroom growing on masters mix (50% HWFP / 50% Soy Hulls) and I’m trying to make use of my old SOY HULLS and extra bags. I just PC’d some hydrated soy pellets and inoculated MS Golden Teachers into a silicone injection port... will this actually work? I’m sure it will colonize... but probably just not at a super efficient rate? And when I need to fruit should I spawn to bulk? Mono tub? Any ideas?

I’d be worried it wouldn’t have the sugars needed for a good flush

I have absolutely no idea if it will work. Sounds like a cool experiment to me. I've never heard of soy bean hulls being used for anything other than as an additive to compost -but I'm not as connected to the 'gourmet' mushroom business as I once was. I guess my biggest concern would be the structure of your inoculent (sp?), (the soy b hulls). I don't even know what they look like lol. If your bags are dense, your chances of go down. If your bags resemble the usual suspects -rye, wheat or oats, I would guess your chances are good?Maybe somebodt else has a better perspective on this?
Psilocin ^ makes a valid point worth considering.

Sounds like you are trying to grow cubes in wood lover substrate. My bet is it will not work, maybe a cube liquid culture but almost certainly not spores.

Good point MH...^ I didn't think this through. Spore injections into bags, regardless of how ideal the growing medium may be, almost never works. Unless I'm not reading this situation accurately.
And then there is the question of are there enough nutes in the hulls to support growth.

You got it right. Some people have been lucky with very clean syringes and proper sterile technique so its possible if the grain is suitable for the cube mycelium.
I have personally never had success with spores straight to grain enough times to begin agar after a few contaminated bags.
